Cloud City High School Family Newsletter
Dear Cloud City Families,
Thank you all for your patience and understanding during the recent school closure, which allowed law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the threat made toward our school. They have deemed the building safe, and all students may return to their normal schedule on Monday, November 17th. In moments like this, I am grateful for the strength and unity of our community. Please remember that resources are available for anyone who may have been impacted by this situation and needs additional support.
This upcoming week will move quickly, and we have several important events:
Food Drive:
Our Student Senate and CTSO students are hosting a food drive. Please consider donating any non-perishable items. All collected donations will go directly to local food banks, many of which are currently struggling, along with several of our own families and community members.
Workforce Boot Camp – Wednesday, November 19th:
All students are expected to be in attendance by 8:25 AM. Students will participate in career tours highlighting small businesses and entrepreneurship opportunities across Leadville, Buena Vista, and Salida. One of the stops includes an arcade. Students should bring quarters if they wish to participate. Students may bring a lunch from home or receive a school-provided lunch.
Thanksgiving Lunch – Thursday, November 20th:
We will host our annual Thanksgiving Lunch on Thursday. Please submit your reservation to the office as soon as possible so our cooks can plan accordingly. See details below…
Thank you again for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to welcoming all students back on Monday.
SAVE THE DATE! Friday, December 12th – Full Circle Student Event
Full Circle is planning a special event just for CCHS students and their guests. Stay tuned for details — you won’t want to miss it!

Healthy School Meals for All Election Results
Propositions MM and LL were passed by voters in the recent election, which allows the Healthy School Meals for All program to raise and retain additional funding. This means there will be no changes to our breakfast and lunch program this year. All students will continue to have access to a free, nutritious breakfast and lunch each school day.
Even though meals are free for all students, we ask that families continue to provide household income information by completing the Federal Economic Data Survey (FEDS Form). This information helps schools receive full federal funding, which directly supports meal programs, after school programs and other nutrition initiatives. Please contact Leslee Torsell ltorsell@lakecountyschools.net or Mary Jelf mjelf@lakecountyschools.net for more information on how to complete the FEDS form.
