LCIS SNSO 4-26-20
Dear LCIS Families,
We hope this message finds you and yours healthy and safe. With the recent news from the governor that all schools in Colorado will remain closed for the remainder of the school year, we feel heartbroken that we will not have the opportunity to be together this spring. Our staff is passionate about teaching and truly misses working with your children. We know that this change has been hard on everyone and we believe that the spirit of our LCIS Crew helps to keep us all connected.
Our staff has been busy working out the logistics for the end of the year. Below please find some important information.
On Monday, April 27, we will host our next packet pick up for distant learning for grades K-6 at LCIS from 8-4. We plan to hand out student class photos at this time. We are still waiting on the arrival of the individual spring photos and will plan to hand them out with the personal belongings on the May 11 packet pick up day.
On Monday, May 11 from 8-4 and Tuesday May 12 from 3-7 we will host our final packet pick up at LCIS for only grades 3-6. At this time we plan to distribute the last two weeks of distant learning, plus some summer learning opportunities, report cards reflecting grades through quarter 3, and student belongings. Currently, your child’s teacher is gathering up his/her belongings and preparing them for you to take home. During these two days, we will also have our lost and found items displayed on hanging racks near the parking lot entrance available for you to check for your child’s missing items.
Distribution of items for both of these events will follow the same structure: parents will enter the LCIS parking lot from 6th street, drive up to the cone at the front entrance, remain in their vehicles and tell the LCIS staff member their child s name and grade level. The staff member will bring your child s items to you. Please only plan to get out of your vehicle if you want to look at the lost and found items and remember to follow social distancing recommendations.
We will be mailing report cards home the week of May 11th. These reports will reflect student progress through March 13, 2020. If your mailing address has changed since registration, please leave a message with the LCIS office at 719-486-6830.
If your child has borrowed a Chromebook for distant learning, he/she may continue to keep and use the Chromebook for the duration of the summer. We will plan to collect the Chromebooks at the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We hope that having the use of the Chromebooks has enabled your child to continue with some of their online learning programs as well as connect with his/her teacher through Google Classroom. The online learning programs, such as Lexia, Dreambox and Khan Academy will continue to be available throughout the summer even though Google Classroom will end on May 22, 2020. There will be an IT person on call this summberm so if you have any problems with your Chromebook, you can email helpdesk@lakecountyschools.net for support.
It is time to return your Instruments!
If you rented an instrument from the district, we will instrument return on Thursday, May 7th from 10:00am-2:00pm and again on Monday, May 11th from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Please drive by to drop your instrument at the HS near the performing arts entrance (top of parking lot). Teachers will be there to receive your instrument. Please remain in your vehicle. If you left your instrument in a locker at school, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Cairns at ccairns@lakecountyschools.net.
Let’s stay connected and show our LCIS crew spirit during our school closure! Please email your photo submissions to Tracy at tvincent@lakecountyschools.net. This week’s theme:
April 27 – May 1 Family Photo Week – Send a photo of you and your family. April is National Pet month, so be sure to include them in your photo!

Thank you for all of the support that you are offering your child in their at home learning! We know that it can be challenging for families to balance all of the demands on their time. What is most important is that your children are happy and healthy and that they have time to read and interact with you on an academic level. We appreciate all that you are doing to support your child!
Stay healthy and safe. We look forward to seeing you at the next distribution day!
