LCIS FASO 1/7/22
Hello LCIS Families!
This has been an eventful week back at school! We have gotten several inches of much needed snow – and a lot of exercise by playing in it and shoveling it. Please remind your child to bring their winter clothes with them every day, including their boots, so that they can enjoy their time outside.
There have been a lot of positive COVID cases in our community. Thank you so much for monitoring your child’s health before sending them to school and thank you for calling the school when your child is ill. We appreciate the extra caution and are so thankful for your diligence regarding this important factor in our current educational world.
We had a very successful fire drill yesterday. The Leadville/Lake County Fire-Rescue team came to the school and conducted our drill in a very realistic manner which included using some of their rescue gear. They are always very professional and helpful and we are very thankful for their partnership!
📚 ACADEMIC UPDATE
If your child is quarantining and missing school for an extended period of time, please encourage them to read every day and get onto IXL to practice their math skills. Students should spend 30 minutes a day on IXL and read for 30 minutes each day in addition to whatever school work they also have. If you need school work for your child or your child’s Chromebook, please call the main office so that we can coordinate getting those items for you.
January’s habit of the month is Collaboration! Our 6th grade students will host the community meeting on 1/27 at 8:10 in the gym.
The learning targets for collaboration include:
- I communicate well by actively listening and explaining my ideas clearly.
- I work with others to achieve a common goal.
You can also focus on collaboration at your home this month!
Remember to have your child come to school prepared every day with their water bottle, Chromebook, and winter clothes.
Please see below for our January lunch and breakfast menus. Starting this month, we will be more environmentally conscious by posting the menus on the Friday Afternoon Shout Out and sending home paper copies by parent/family request. Please let the LCIS main office know if you need a print-out of the menus by calling 719-486-6830. Thank you!
