LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 10-13-23
Hello LCIS Families,
We were able to see so many students and families at Student Led Conferences this week! Students and their families met with their teachers and celebrated the first part of the 2023-2024 school year by looking at their portfolios, a showcase of their growth and successes. They were also able to talk about the data provided by CMAS from the spring of 2023, the NWEA assessment, and their reading placement from DIBELS testing. Whew! Could we possibly come up with any more acronyms? Here is a glossary of terms:
CMAS – Colorado Measures of Academic Success
NWEA – Northwest Evaluation Association
DIBELS – Dynamic Indicators of Basic Literacy Skills
Thank you for coming to conferences and being our partner in your child’s education!
Halloween will soon be here! We are happy to announce that we will host Healthy Halloween Celebrations at school for our students on Tuesday, October 31. Students are welcome to wear their costume for the entire school day. Costumes must be school appropriate and therefore fake weapons, face masks and face paints are not allowed. Please do not send any food with your child with the expectation that it will be shared with others. If your child does bring food to school, it will be returned home with them at the end of the day. If you would like to send a little Halloween prize to be shared you may, but this is not expected. Little prizes may include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Students who are not participating in the activities will have the option of joining fun alternative activities.
Hearing and Vision Screening: Colorado state law requires public schools to conduct hearing and vision screening for students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Our school nurse, Colleen Nielsen, will be conducting hearing and vision screenings for the 3rd and 5th graders this week. Colleen will follow up with families if she has any concerns.

ATHLETIC UPDATE:
Panther Gear! If you are looking for Lake County spirit gear, our Panther store is still open. This year there are additional sport-specific options. You can find those here. Spirit wear (in the bottom right hand corner) says Panthers instead of a specific sport. 5% of sales comes back to the athletic/activities department.
This year we will be charging for ALL GYM sporting events- high school and middle school.
Ticket prices will be $7/adults and $5/seniors for HS games and $3/adults and $1/seniors for MS games. We will NOT be taking cash at the front door, but we will take credit cards at the door.
You can also buy your tickets online in advance at: https://gofan.co/app/school/CO11697
The Lake County Annual Pass will get you into any home event- HS or MS, volleyball or basketball.
Reminder: Lake County students will need to show their school ID to get free entry into the volleyball games.
