Hello Families,
This week we celebrated Halloween in specials by doing a fun bat craft and movement dances. Students and staff also wore their costumes and it was such an exciting day full of lots of smiles and happiness. See our slideshow below.
Mrs. Christy’s Newsletter: Mrs. Christy, our school counselor created a newsletter ( under fliers section) to bring awareness to National Bullying Prevention Month which was recognized in October through our kindness challenge.
Thank you all for a great, fun week. We have two weeks until fall break and then the busy holiday season. Please reach out at any time if you have questions, concerns, or celebrations you would like to share.
Thanks,
Katie Pongrekun
Principal, LCES

Staff of the Week Highlight! |
Each week this year in family communication, we will be highlighting a staff member in the building. If you want, please feel free to send emails, handwritten notes, or letters of encouragement to that staff member.
Liz Saunders- 2nd Grade Teacher
Mrs. Saunders grew up in Nevada. She taught 5th grade in Nevada and then stayed home raising her kids for 6 years. She began as a kindergarten teacher here at LCES and then moved to 2nd grade last year. In her free time, Mrs. Saunders enjoys running and cross country skiing. Liz is inspired by seeing the world through her kids eyes and their enthusiasm. Her dream vacation would be to take her kids to Central America.
Send Mrs. Saunders an encouraging note at esaunders@lakecountyschools.net

K-2 Specifics |
- Please remember to have your child to the building by 7:45 if you would like them to have breakfast in the morning. Thanks so much for helping with this.
- Looking for donations of size 6-8 pants/sweatpants for students who may need a change of clothes during the day.
- Please remember to send your child ready to go outside on a daily basis in the snow. Also, it is very helpful and important to have your child’s name on their snow clothes, gloves, hat, boots, etc. so that if they are misplaced or put in the lost and found we are able to get it back to them.
Preschool Specifics |
Curriculum:
- Preschool Room – We are done with domain 2: Families and Communities and domain 3: Animals will start after Thanksgiving Break. Before moving forward to domain 3, children will have an opportunity to learn about important people in American history such as the Native Americans and Pilgrims.
- 2 ½ Years Old Room – Children will continue learning the routines and expectations in the classroom as well as potty training. As they are transitioning with Creative Curriculum Infant and Toddler Curriculum.
- We are taking a little pause with Second Step till January 18, 2023. During this lesson pause, we will be learning more about the Pyramid Model and the different components of it to best support children on managing emotions, problem solving, and making friends.
Reminders:
- With current staffing issues, there is a chance that your child’s class will be split into other rooms and closed on any given day. This may occur after your child has already been dropped off.
- Reminder school doors open at 9:00 am each day, we ask that you wait until you schedule hours listed on your signed tuition agreement. Any time that is outside these hours are billable to you.
- Be sure to put your student’s yellow folder in their backpack to return on Monday so that we can fill them back up with important information. Thanks for helping with this.
