LCIS SNSO 9-20-20
Hello LCIS Families,
This week marks our fourth week in the yellow hybrid phase of the school year. Our students have shown compassion and perseverance by following our social distancing procedures including, properly wearing face coverings, frequent hand washing and maintaining a safe distance from their peers. Students have shown responsibility by bringing in their health screeners every day. Thank you for helping to make this such a smooth start to a unique school year.
All LCIS students have been taking their beginning of the year DIBELS benchmark reading assessment. It is clear from the data, that many students have been reading a lot over these past few months! Reading daily strongly supports overall academic success. Listening to your child read aloud and then discussing the stories together helps your child with fluency and comprehension. You will be able to review your child’s DIBELs results at conferences in October.
Lake County School District’s 2nd Day Supports Program with 100 Elk Outdoor Center: There’s just 1 week left of this fun and enriching 2nd-day programming. As always, please pay close attention to the weather forecast and make sure your student(s) come prepared. Programming is outdoors as much as possible. Additionally: please make sure your student(s) bring their ‘at-home’ academic work, as they have time to work on it at 100 Elk.
