LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 3/31/23
Hello LCIS Families,
We had a great first week back at school! Students and teachers picked up right where they left off and got right back into the learning. Thank you for supporting your child to be at school on time every day.
Please help your student remember their charged chromebook every day. Students will take a STAR Progress Monitoring assessment next week, there will be CMAS testing April 10-20, and they use their chromebooks in class as part of the curriculum. Technology is part of every day learning at LCIS and students need their chromebooks to excel. Thank you for your help!
At our Community Meeting on March 29, we highlighted that LCIS was one of 21 schools across the state to receive the Governor’s Bright Spot Award and $50,000 in education relief funds. LCIS received this recognition for the growth that our students made on the CMAS assessments in the spring of 2022 compared to students’ scores from the spring of 2021. Our students’ scores pushed our rating on the Colorado Department of Education from “Priority Improvement” to “Performance”. This was a tremendous achievement that honored the work that our students and teachers do every day. Please celebrate this growth with your child and encourage them to do their very best on the upcoming CMAS assessments.
Pictured above are some of the LCSD staff members who worked during the pandemic to create a continuous learning environment despite the myriad of challenges that we all faced.
Dr. Massey celebrated the Governor’s Bright Spot Award with the LCIS students and staff. We were excited that some of our community partners were able to attend our celebration. The organizations represented by these wonderful people were instrumental in the success of the LCIS students during the pandemic.
Also shared at the celebration was the LCIS Bright Spot Video. (updated link)
Students in 4th grade shared a presentation during the LCIS Community Meeting that explained the Civil War using costumes and scripts. They did an excellent job giving us a brief history of the birth of our nation!
NEXT TUESDAY, April 4th, Lifetouch will take class photos and individual photos. Order forms forms went home this week, but If you still need a form We also have extras in the main office.
On April 5th, we host our LCIS Attendance Celebration! Students who have had 95% attendance for Jan-Mar will be able to participate in a waffle breakfast this week. We’re so excited to celebrate with them for prioritizing school and being here.
April 10-27: Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) testing will take place. During the first week of testing, all LCIS students will take one ELA assessment each day, Monday through Wednesday. During the second week, all LCIS students will take one Math assessment each day, Monday through Wednesday. Fifth graders will also take one science test a day during that second week. Make-up assessments will take place throughout the entire testing window. Please do your best to have your child here every day for testing during this time.
