LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 12-1-23
Dear LCIS Families:
We were so glad to come back on Monday and see the smiling faces of our students and staff! We are grateful for the break, but we are also grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn together with your children!
We were so excited to see the 4th graders lead our Community Meeting on Wednesday! The students have just finished an ELA unit about the Islamic Middle Ages. At the end of the unit, they wrote a piece of historical fiction that was set in the Arabian Desert in the year 560. Some of the students read these stories to us and they showed great creativity and imagination! Thank you to those of you who were able to attend. We are looking forward to the next Community Meeting on December 20th which will be led by our 3rd graders.
Our Winter Concert will take place next week on Thursday, Dec 7th! We’re so excited for you to watch our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders perform some holiday classics. The performance will be held at the high school auditorium at 6:30pm. Students will need to arrive by 6:00pm at the latest in order to start the concert on time. While no dress code is strictly required, we encourage all students to dress nicely (if possible, something nicer than a t-shirt and jeans).
ALL 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are required to attend the Winter Concert. If your child is unable to participate, there will be an alternative assignment. While 6th graders are welcome to attend, they will not be performing. Instead the music that they created using a program called Soundtrap will be played during the intervals of this concert. They are practicing their band instruments to get ready for the spring concert!
Our next Attendance Celebration – the last one of the fall semester – will take place on Wednesday Dec. 20. Students who have missed ½ day or less for the 15 days between Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break will be invited to attend a craft activity in the LCIS gym.
It’s not too late to see Lake County High School’s fall one-act production, Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon! The final shows are Friday, December 1 at 7 pm and Saturday, December 2 at 3:30 pm.
