Hello Families,
We had a great week of learning at LCES and a happy first week of snow! Thank you all for helping to get students into the building this week for our annual October count. Overall, we had an attendance percentage of 87% in Preschool and 88% in K-2.
Snow!
As the snow starts to fall, please remember to send your child with boots and snow clothes every day. Also, please make sure that you put your child’s name on each item in permanent marker. Our lost and found is starting to grow already. Be sure to check it while you are here for conferences.
Parent Teacher Conferences PK-2:
We are so excited to welcome all our families for parent teacher conferences this next week. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher. Be sure to ask your child’s teacher about what small group instruction your child is receiving in order to support their literacy development.
Fall conferences for grades PK-2 are approaching and will be held on October 11th and 12th from 12:30-8:00. Please use the following link to sign up for your half hour time slot to meet with your child’s teacher. Please reach out to the front office if you have any questions about scheduling. We look forward to meeting with you to share with you how your child is doing. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 on these two days (Preschool through 2nd Grade). There will be NO afternoon bus for preschool students.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities PK-2:
We are looking for parents (1-2) at each grade level PK-2 who would be interested in being part of our Family Fun Night/Parent Engagement committee. If you are interested in this work, you would be asked to help plan events for families to be a part of. Please reach out to Katie Pongrekun at kpongrekun@lakecountyschools.net if you are interested in this opportunity.
Thank you all again for a great week. See you all at conferences this next week!
Thanks,
Katie Pongrekun

Staff of the Week Highlight! |
Each week this year in family communication, we will be highlighting a staff member in the building. If you want, please feel free to send emails, handwritten notes, or letters of encouragement to that staff member.
Abby Krause- K2 Special Education Teacher
Abby grew up in New York and has her B.A. in Theatre. She has three sisters and two brothers, and her youngest brother is 14 years younger than her. Abby is inspired by her family, friends, and the kids she teaches (“All these things make me want to do better and be a better person”). Abby’s dream vacation would be to rent an RV and travel around the U.S. She likes to go on hikes with her dog and hang out by the lake. Thank you Abby, for all you do!
Send Abby an encouraging note at akrause@lakecountyschools.net
