Cloud City High School Family Newsletter
As we move into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express how truly thankful I am to work with each and every one of our students and staff. The community we are building together is something special, and it would not be possible without the ongoing support and partnership of our parents and guardians. Thank you for being such an important part of our school family.
Next week, there will be no school, and we hope this break gives everyone the chance to rest, rejuvenate, spend meaningful time with loved ones, and reflect on what matters most. School will resume on Monday, December 1, 2025, following our regular schedule.
On Wednesday, our students participated in our Workforce Boot Camp, where they learned about running and owning a small business and explored the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. We kicked off the week with a Community Meeting featuring a presentation from Nancy of the Leadville Exchange and Chamber of Commerce. Students visited Sold Out Tees, Elevation Brewing in Buena Vista, and Fun Street in Salida. We extend our sincere thanks to these businesses and their staff for taking the time to support our students in exploring potential career pathways. We also could not do this without the support of our very own transportation department and cooks.
Did you know that students can also participate in concurrent enrollment through Colorado Mountain College (CMC) while attending Cloud City High School? This opportunity allows students not only to take core academic classes that are guaranteed to transfer to other colleges, but also to gain hands-on skills and certifications in fields such as construction, welding, heavy equipment operation, CNA, and EMT. These courses equip students with valuable qualifications to enter the workforce directly after high school. Classes fill quickly, so students should schedule time before winter break to enroll for second semester.
Looking ahead, Thursday, December 4, 2025, will be our Mid-Year NWEA Assessment Day. All students are required to participate, as these assessments help us measure academic growth in Reading, Math, and Language. Students will not want to miss this day—there will be cash prize opportunities for those who arrive on time and show the greatest growth from their highest previous score to their current one.
SAVE THE DATE: Friday, December 12th – Full Circle Student Event
Full Circle is planning a special event just for CCHS students and their guests. Stay tuned for details — you won’t want to miss it!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your students each day.
