LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 3/29/24
Dear LCIS Families:
Our Community Meeting on Wednesday was excellent! A big thank you to the 4th grade students and teachers for hosting the assembly and sharing their learning with us. The 4th graders performed a play, complete with costumes, to share their learning about the Revolutionary War. We were able to hear from the loyalists, the patriots, King George, Ben Franklin, Paul Revere and many more historical figures. The presentation was both educational and entertaining! We appreciate the craftsmanship and responsibility that it took for the 4th grade students and teachers to bring us this wonderful Community Meeting. We were also able to honor the students from each classroom who were the “Scholar of the Month’ for the habit of Curiosity. In April we will focus on Perseverance – I stick with tasks even when I feel tired, frustrated or challenged. This will be especially important as we look forward to CMAS testing!
Spring Photos are April 3rd! Lifetouch will be here on Wednesday April 3rd to take both class and individual photos! Please send your child with the money and order form or you may also place your order on line You will need to use the picture code EVTSM7RMZ for class photos and EVTJNQHJB for the individual photos. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the LCIS office at 719-486-6830. Remember to bring your smile!
LCIS will have a HOWL celebration on Thursday, April 4th. This will be a reward for students who have exhibited positive behavior and earned HOWL points. Each grade was challenged to reach a total of 12,500 points, and they did! Students will be able to enjoy three fun stations in the gym including a game, arts and crafts and a physical activity. As a reminder, if your student has had any suspensions or 3 or more ‘Own and Restores’ for the same offense since the last HOWL Rewards Celebration – they unfortunately will not be able to attend the HOWL Rewards Celebration this Thursday. They will be in the main office completed work in IXL or other incomplete school work.
LCIS students will take the Colorado State Assessment (CMAS) test in April. The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) test is given at all Colorado public schools and helps to track the progress of our students. All students will be assessed in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. Students in 5th grade will also take a Science assessment. We are planning to take the ELA portion of CMAS the week of April 8th. The Math assessments will be given the week of April 15th. Students in 5th grade will take the Science assessments on the Thursday of each week. There will be make-up testing during the week of April 22nd.
Students do best when they test with the rest of their class during their scheduled testing time, so please prioritize your student being at school during these two weeks. We are looking forward to seeing the growth that our 4th-6th graders have made on the tests compared to last year and to see the academic achievement of all our students. Please call the office if you have any questions at 719-486-6830.
