LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 4-5-24
Dear LCIS Families:
We had a really busy week! There were spring individual and class photos, a fire drill, a HOWL celebration and lots of learning! The boundless energy and dedication of our students and staff is truly amazing.
LCIS students will take the Colorado State Assessment (CMAS) beginning next week. The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) test is given at all Colorado public schools and helps to track the progress of our students. All students will be assessed in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. Students in 5th grade will also take a Science assessment. We are planning to take the ELA portion of CMAS the week of April 8th. The Math assessments will be given the week of April 15th. Students in 5th grade will take the Science assessments on the Thursday of each week. There will be make-up testing during the week of April 22nd.
Please be sure to send your student with their charged chromebook each day for the next two weeks! It is really important for all students to be on time each day, but especially our 6th graders as they will begin testing at 8am. Thank you for your help!
The Habit of the Month for April is Perseverance. Students who exhibit this habit during our CMAS testing will receive a perseverance ticket. Students have the opportunity for each test they take. There will be a daily winner for each grade level each day.
Students do best when they test with the rest of their class during their scheduled testing time, so please prioritize your student being at school during these two weeks. We are looking forward to seeing the growth that our 4th-6th graders have made on the tests compared to last year and to see the academic achievement of all our students. Please call the office if you have any questions at 719-486-6830.
The LCIS students have reached HOWL Summit once again! Since our last celebration on December 21st, all grade levels have been earning points for exhibiting our Habits Of Work and Learning. Each point brings them closer to the summit of HOWL Mountain. All grade levels reached the summit by earning 12,500 points! Ms. Sordyl planned and organized a fabulous reward in the gym to celebrate their accomplishments. Thank you Ms. Sordyl!
Residents and workers in Lake County and Leadville—please take this survey about housing challenges!
Lake County and the City of Leadville are conducting a housing needs assessment to understand the current needs of residents. This survey is a critical element of that assessment. This information will help the county and city create programs to better address housing needs.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LakeCountyHousing
Please take this survey if you:
¾ Live in any part of Lake County the majority of the year.
¾ Are retired or work in any part of Lake County. This includes if you live outside of the county and commute into Lake County for your job.
Do not take this survey if you own seasonal or vacation properties that you occupy occasionally or own long- or short-term rentals in Lake County.
¾ Your responses are confidential. Your name or place of residence will not be linked to your survey.
¾ This survey is not associated with any political party or election or ballot issue.
¾ The survey takes about 12 minutes to complete. If you complete it by April 30 you will have a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.
Tell your friends, the people you work with, and family members about the survey!
If you require a reasonable accommodation to participate in the survey, please contact hello@rootpolicy.com or call 970-880-1415 x102. An example of a reasonable accommodation would be taking the survey by phone because you have difficulty reading and/or do not have a screen reader that can assist you with the survey.
Si prefiere hablar con alguien en español, envíe un correo electrónico a avilia@rootpolicy.com.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
Calling all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! Please join the High Mountain Institute for the 2024 Lake County Backpack Trip: a fun, week-long adventure that culminates with a backpacking trip in the very mountains that make up our backyard.
