Hello Families,
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during this snowy week of school with our two hour late start. We are working to refine our schedule around this and as always our student’s safety is our number one priority. This week we began our K-2 DIBELS 8 middle of the year reading assessment. ACCESS testing is also continuing into next week, so we appreciate you sending your child to us everyday, rested and ready to learn.
Thank you all for sharing your kiddos with us everyday! Please reach out at any time if you have celebrations, questions, or concerns.
Have a great weekend,
Katie Pongrekun
Principal, LCES

Staff of the Week Highlight! |
Each week this year in family communication, we will be highlighting a staff member in the building. If you want, please feel free to send emails, handwritten notes, or letters of encouragement to that staff member.
Kim Kupfer- PK Special Education Paraprofessional
Kim works in the preschool here at LCES as a special education paraprofessional. She grew up in Fargo, North Dakota and loves to go camping, take road trips, and go tubing in the summer. Her dream vacation is to travel anywhere tropical with her family. When asked what inspires her, Kim said “My kids inspire me. They inspire me to be a better me. They remind me to be patient and to always try my best. They always make me laugh and give the best hugs when I need them. My mom always tells me to ‘Get out of your comfort zone’ and I tell myself this every morning.” Kim, thank you for all the work you do at The Center!
Send Mrs. Kim an encouraging note at kkupfer@lakecountyschools.net
K-2 Specifics |
January is a very important month for attendance! We do a lot of mid-year assessments throughout the month to help us know where your student is at with specific skills. Please help your child with these assessments by ensuring that they are in school and rested. We will be having an attendance challenge for the month of January where the crew with the highest attendance percentage from each grade will receive a popcorn and movie party at the end of the month. We hope to see your child here each and every day! Here are the details of each assessment:
- NWEA Math assessments will happen in classrooms the week of January 29th. This will help us determine where your student is at with their math skills. Results of this assessment will be shared with families through a report sent home and gone over at conferences in March.
Special Note from Mrs. Bridge:
