LCIS Celebrates Veteran’s Day
LCIS gathered as a school community on Wednesday, November 11th in our gymnasium. Students came directly to the gym before even having breakfast in order to honor our Veterans and learn a little about this holiday. Below is part of the speech that students heard from Ms. Beery that was written by Mrs. Gallegos.
Veterans’ Day is observed on November 11 when Americans honor all military veterans. The day is celebrated with speeches and parades across the country.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, “Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans–living or dead–but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.” These Veterans have taken care of us and it is important we show our gratitude!
To honor this day LCIS decided to gather as a school community and sing The Star Spangled Banner and say the Pledge of Allegiance together.
The students were respectful and solemn during this small ceremony and we hope to make it even more meaningful in the years to come.
