LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 1-23-26
Hello LCIS Families,
Our Multilingual students are just about finished with their ACCESS testing. We are working on make-up tests for students who have been absent. They continue to show determination and persistence as they complete these assessments. We are so proud of them!
Our 4th graders took their NWEA MAPS assessments for ELA and Math this week. Next week students in grades 3, 5, and 6 will also take these assessments. The 4th grade data is showing strong growth across both Math and ELA and that our average achievement is higher now than in the fall. Great job 4th graders!

If you have a student in 4th grade ask them about their winter scores.
If you have a student in grades 3, 5, or 6, ask them about their goals for these assessments. 3rd graders will test on Monday and Tuesday. 5th graders will test on Wednesday and 6th graders will test on Thursday. Please talk with your child about doing their best on these assessments.
Please join us for our Community Meeting on Wednesday!
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, January 28th and join us for our next Community Meeting at 8:05 in the LCIS Gym. Our 6th grade students will host this event and be presenting about life in Athens and Sparta. We will also be celebrating our scholars of the month for “Collaboration”.
Celebrations:
Congratulations to Julia Robles for the Perfect Attendance Award for the first two weeks of January! She has earned two free pizzas from The Famous! |
Upcoming:
4th Graders to the Mining Museum:
On Thursday, January 29th our 4th graders will go to the Mining Museum in Leadville as part of their Colorado History Unit. They have been studying the Colorado Gold Rush and visiting the museum will bring these areas of study to life!
LCIS Annual Scripps Spelling Bee:
On Tuesday, February 10th, LCIS will host its annual Scripps Spelling Bee. Students took home practice words over the winter break. Hopefully you’ve seen your child practicing their spelling words! Another way your child can practice is through the Word Club Spelling and Vocabulary app. Check it out! We will hold classroom competitions later this month to determine our finalists who will participate in our school-wide Bee.
IXL Homework:

We are encouraged to see our usage back up now that we’re back in school following the winter break. Remember that we are asking students to do about 20 minutes of IXL each day as homework. The individualized practice they receive on IXL helps each student to grow at their level.
