LCES Families, Week 2 of school at LCES was incredibly productive as students and teachers are becoming better at the routines and transitions of school. It’s fun to see our youngest learners excited about being at school and eager to see their teacher, each morning. We hope your student is beginning to settle into their new school schedule. Sleep is important! A well rested child is a child ready to learn! Ensure your student is getting enough important sleep each night by setting a bed time and keeping a consistent night routine. This year, Lake County School District has put together a committee of staff, parents, and community members to discuss the calendar for the 2026-2027 school year. The goal of this committee is to recommend a calendar that best meets the needs of our students, staff, parents, and community to the LCSD school board. The committee has put together a survey to get input. You can take the survey by following this link: https://forms.gle/LZ8Xe5zFjn8H3ijZ6. We hope to have all responses by September 8, 2025. Thank you for your time and consideration! Have a fantastic weekend, Panthers and see you on Monday! Brandi Lovely, PK-2 Principal blovely@lakecountyschools.net |

K-2 Specifics |
DIBELS Testing: Beginning Monday, August 25 we will start our beginning of the year benchmark reading assessment. These tests help us measure how well kids are learning and gives us a direction on interventions for the school year. This assessment is also important because it is influential in making big decisions for our district regarding student performance. Please take a couple of minutes this weekend to talk to your student about doing their very best on their DIBELS test. Ensure that your child goes to bed on time and eats breakfast at school or home. We look forward to sharing these assessment results with you at parent teacher conferences in October. PowerHub: This year we have transitioned all communication, grades, and payments to our online student information system, PowerSchool. Please do not make any payments with EFunds, our previous system. If you need assistance using the PowerSchool app, please call our front office at 719-486-6890 or email Ms. Zee (zalmeida@lakecountyschools.net). We are here to help and support this process. Quick note about safety- please use SLOW speeds in our parking lots, especially during drop off and pick up times. Attendance: Have you been using the attendance tracking calendar at home with your student? This is a resource to help your student track their attendance at home to make sure they are here as often as possible and to keep on track for all of the fun challenges and prizes we have regarding attendance this year. See details about our first pizza attendance challenge and our semester 1 attendance challenge in the fliers section below. |

Hi Center Families, This week has brought smoother routines and continued smiles. I see children getting comfortable in their days, friendships are starting to form, and our daily classroom schedules are starting to feel a little more familiar to our preschoolers. We will begin with our first CKLA domain “All About Me” on September 2nd. Look for more information regarding this topic and what children will learn in our future Panther Cub communications. We will share information regarding classroom curriculum and learning here on a weekly basis. We look forward to week 3, see you Monday!
