LCES Families,
Happy October, Panther families! Next week is Homecoming week at Lake County School District and we are excited to celebrate with spirit week and the Homecoming parade on Thursday at 4:15 on Harrison Avenue. See you there!

This upcoming Tuesday, October 7 is our LCES picture retake day with LifeTouch. Students who missed picture day during orientation conferences in August and all new students will get their picture taken on this day. Fliers to order pictures were sent home Thursday in Thursday folders. If you would like your student to get their picture retaken, please communicate with the front office by the end of day October 6th. Parent teacher conferences are fast approaching, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, October 15 and 16. Please note, these two conference days are half days of school, with dismissal beginning at 11:00am. Please communicate with the front office your child’s transportation plans as Project Dream will not be offered these two days.

October Reading Challenge: Mrs. Mulcey is excited for the October Reading Challenge this year! Come check out Pooh’s Forest in the hallway and read 10 minutes each day to color in 2 boxes. Your child may bring back the completed signed reading log for a special prize from Mrs. Mulcey. Happy Reading!
IXL: This week marks the start of our first IXL pizza challenge (see flyer below). If your student logs at least 20 minutes on IXL during the weekends of September 26-28th and/or October 3-5th, your family will be entered into a raffle to receive a gift certificate for a large pizza. We will contact the winning student’s family on October 9th. We look forward to seeing student growth excel in partnership with IXL and continued reading at home. Congratulations to Ms. Benton’s Kindergarten crew for winning extra recess with Ms. Rapke as part of our September Attendance Challenge! The attendance percentage for Ms. Benton’s crew was 98%!
October Attendance Challenge: This week marks the beginning of our next monthly attendance challenge! The class with the best attendance percentage for the whole month will receive an extra recess with Ms. Rapke. Please try to send your student to school every day, unless they are too sick. We appreciate your help in reaching our 94% attendance goal!
HOWLs Challenge: We are having a HOWLs challenge this quarter. Your student will try to earn as many HOWL Dollars as they can by October 9th for the chance to bring a stuffy to school on October 14th! The top six HOWL dollar earners in each class will win. If your student wins, we will send home a paper parent communication in their backpacks. You will also receive a text message from the front office. Students can earn HOWL Dollars by showing any of our HOWLs to any staff member in the school. The HOWL that we are focusing on for October is respect and we are excited to see you all at our community meeting celebrating this HOWL on October 30th!

Bus drop-off times have been updated, please see the most current schedule here: LCES Project Dream Information
To help ensure a smooth and safe bus drop-off for all students, please plan to be at your child’s drop-off location 5 minutes before the scheduled time and remain until 5 minutes after. This small window helps us make sure every student gets home safely and avoids delays.

The Center Specifics
Hi Families!
Good bye September, hello October! We are excited for a new month, new fun, and new learning to come this month.
Next week is Homecoming at Lake County High School. LCES and The Center are going to join in the fun with spirit week. This is a fun way for staff and students to show some school spirit by participating in each day’s theme. Here is what is planned.
- Monday Oct 6 – Mismatch Day (wear mismatched clothes)
- Tuesday Oct 7 – Crazy Hair and Sock Day
- Wednesday Oct 8 – Sports Day (wear something sport’s themed)
- Thursday Oct 9 – Panther Pride (wear purple and gold)
Preschool will also be attending the LCES pep rally in our school gym on Thursday morning after breakfast.
This week marks the end of the “All About Me” domain. We will be starting Classic Tales next week. We will be reading The Lion and The Mouse and The City Mouse and Country Mouse.
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences. These are held on October 15 and 16 from 12:30-8:00 pm. Families will be receiving information on how to sign up soon. All families please schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher, we will have many things to share regarding your child’s progress so far this year.
Please note that on October 15 and 16 we will close the program at 11:00am to accommodate for parent teacher conferences. For families that have bus services, we will be running AM busses as normal, but will not have afternoon bus services. All children will need to be picked up from the program at 11:00 these two days. We are looking forward to connecting with each of you at these conferences!

Hello Families,
What a great busy week in preschool.
October tuition is due by October 5th, as of the 6th, a $10.00 late fee will be applied. Your child can only stay for his/her free hours. If you have questions around your tuition please contact me.
If you still haven’t completed your ASQ/DECA screener, please turn these in as soon as you can to your child’s teacher. If you need another copy please let me know.
We are running low on extra clothes for our students, if you were sent with the schools extra clothes can you please return them. If you have some extra clothes you would like to donate to us please drop by the office. We need jeans/sweats for both boys and girls, sizes 4t-small.
A few reminders:
- Please label your child’s personal belongings ( waterbottle, extra clothing etc.,) with first and last name.
- If your child rides the bus please make sure to call 719-486-6890 or 719-427-7075, for any bus changes.
