LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 4-25-25
Hello LCIS Panthers,
With only one more week of April it can feel like we’re almost at the end of our school year. While it’s getting close, we still have eight weeks left of learning! It’s important for your child to continue to be at school ready to learn every day. All of our students have just begun or are about to begin new ELA units with exciting topics and they continue to learn new math skills.
Please plan to join us for our next Community Meeting hosted by 3rd grade on Wednesday April 30 at 8:05 in the LCIS Gym. We will honor students for the HOWL of perseverance and also pull perseverance tickets from our CMAS testing for students who will be eligible for attending a Colorado Rockies baseball game on Thursday, May 22nd. This is sure to be an exciting Community Meeting. Please join us!
We have many exciting activities and events coming up, but we want to highlight two very important occasions so that you can put them on your calendar.
Our students are busily preparing for our end of year Celebration of Learning on June 11th. Mark your calendars for this important event! We will begin at 6pm in the LCIS Gym with a welcome followed by vocal performances by students in grades 3-5 and concluding with visits to the all grade level classrooms to listen to students share their learning.
Also, if you are a parent/guardian of a 6th grader, we will have our annual celebration on Wednesday, June 18th at 2:15 in the LCIS Gym.
On Wednesday, LCIS had a visit from the Mobile Earth & Space Observatory (MESO). Students in 3rd and 5th grades have been studying space in STEM class and were able to enhance their learning with some interactive stations that focused on light, thermal energy, and gravity. They were also able to look through a very powerful telescope to observe sunspots and solar flares.
Our annual LCSD Art Show is coming up on May 15th. We are looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer at this fun event, please sign up here.
I’m Here For It!
Our April Attendance Challenge will end next week! Look how close this race is! With only two school days left, here are the standings:
1st Place = 6th Grade at 94.26%
2nd Place = 3rd Grade at 93.33%
3rd Place =4th Grade at 93.29%
4th Place = 5th Grade at 92.50%
The grade level with the best attendance for the month of April will earn Free Play Time. Also, those students from the winning class who are at school every single day in April will be invited to enjoy an exclusive, sugar free treat.
Not only has attendance been great, the students who are chronically late have decreased from 31 to 17 – that is great! The attendance rate for this school year, so far, is 92.61% and we are quickly approaching our goal of 93.7%. Lets keep up the good work, Panthers!

Project Dream Updates:
Project Dream is hiring a part time position to drive the Activity Bus for afterschool and Friday programs! Many Project Dream families say how helpful it is to have free transportation for our programs, and we need your help continuing this service.
Pay is $20-$26.50/hour dependent upon experience, average 20 hours per week, no CDL required. If you know anyone who might be interested, please share this job post with them: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/blog/2025/03/18/lcsd-is-seeking-a-driver-for-project-dream-programs-no-cdl-required/
