LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 5-2-25
Hello LCIS Panthers,
If you are a parent guardian of a 6th grader, please note that we’ve needed to change the end of year celebration from Wednesday 6/18 at 2:15pm to Thursday 6/19 at 8:15am due to a conflict. Please update your calendar to reflect this change as we hope to see you there!
Our third graders did an amazing job performing their play about the solar system at this week’s Community Meeting. Students had memorized their lines and delivered them confidently. We really appreciated the humor sprinkled throughout! Congratulations to them and to our Scholars of the Month for showing the Habit of Work and Learning (HOWL) for perseverance.
May is here and with it is our end of year benchmark testing for reading and math. Over the course of the next two weeks, LCIS students will take their DIBELS reading assessments. Students have been working on increasing their oral reading accuracy and fluency all year and should be demonstrating growth in these skills on these assessments. Please remind your child to do their best when taking these tests.
May also brings Teacher Appreciation Week! If you see a teacher this week be sure to share some words of appreciation to them. We are so thankful for the work they do everyday in providing rich learning experiences for our students.
Next week also provides an opportunity for us to celebrate the 6th grade students who won the April “I’m here for it” Attendance Challenge. This cohort had an attendance rate over 94% for the entire month. Awesome! We will celebrate this achievement on Wednesday with some extra activity time.
In other awesome attendance news: Students who were in attendance 100% of the time during the month of April were awarded a sugar-free popsicle on Thursday May 1st. We appreciate their dedication to their education!
IXL Homework is back! Students have picked up the pace of answering questions
for ELA and Math and working toward the goal of completing one-hour of homework for each on IXL. Keep it up Panthers!
Congratulations to our IXL winners from the past two weeks!
Our annual LCSD Art Show is coming up on May 15th. We are looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer at this fun event, please sign up here.
Our students are busily preparing for our end of year Celebration of Learning on June 11th. Mark your calendars for this important event! We will begin at 6pm in the LCIS Gym with a welcome followed by vocal performances by students in grades 3-5 and concluding with visits to the all grade level classrooms to listen to students share their learning. We hope to see you there!

Project Dream Updates:
Project Dream is hiring a part time position to drive the Activity Bus for afterschool and Friday programs! Many Project Dream families say how helpful it is to have free transportation for our programs, and we need your help continuing this service.
Pay is $20-$26.50/hour dependent upon experience, average 20 hours per week, no CDL required. If you know anyone who might be interested, please share this job post with them: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/blog/2025/03/18/lcsd-is-seeking-a-driver-for-project-dream-programs-no-cdl-required/
