LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 10/31/25
Hello LCIS Families,
We hope you have a spooky and safe Halloween. It was fun to see so many students dressed for the occasion. Thank you for helping your child follow our Healthy Halloween guidelines for a safe, healthy, and fun day at LCIS.
Upcoming
On Thursday November 6, 2025, we will have a practice Lockdown Drill at Lake County Intermediate School. We practice this drill so that we may familiarize the staff and students with our expectations and routines in case we are ever faced with a crisis.
In a Lockdown, students and teachers are trained to follow “Locks, Lights, Out of Sight”. Students move away from doors and windows and maintain silence. Teachers lock the classroom doors, turn out the lights, account for students and wait for the First Responders to open the door. We practice this Standard Response Protocol to ensure safety in our school should an emergency arise.
Please take this opportunity to talk with your child about safety at school and at home. Please contact me if you have any questions about our Standard Response Protocol or lockdown practice.
Celebrations
Mark your calendars for our annual Thanksgiving Lunch! Please join us on November 18th in the LCIS Gym. $5 per adult lunch and $3 per child lunch. LCSD students eat for free.
Academics
Mathematics Update
- 3rd graders will start Unit 3 in Bridges Math next week and begin to focus on adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers using strategies such as numberlines and the standard algorithm.
- 4th graders have just started Unit 3 in Bridges Math and their focus is on fractions and decimals. Students will learn how to find equivalent fractions and learn about the relationship between fractions and decimals, such as ½ = 0.5.
- 5th graders have also started Unit 3 Bridges Math and their focus is on place value and decimals. They will begin by working to the tenths and hundredths, and then go all the way to the ten-thousandths.
- 6th graders are beginning Unit 4 in Reveal Math with a focus on understanding and finding percents.
IXL Homework Update
Sitting side-by-side with your child while they work on their recommended skills on IXL can have a positive impact on their success. Please spend some time asking your child about their homework, previewing their skills, and watching them solve some problems. Your involvement matters!!

Attendance
When students come to school every day, they build good habits, stay on track with learning, and feel more confident. Every day in school makes a difference!
Cold Weather
Fall in the mountains brings cold weather! As a reminder, students at LCIS go outside for recess every day if the temperature is 10 degrees or above with a wind chill of 0 or higher. Please help your child come to school prepared to be outside in cold weather.
