Multilingual Assessment: ACCESS during January
Students who are English Language Learners will be taking the Access test in January. This is an exciting opportunity for students to demonstrate the English skills they’ve developed in the past year. The test consists of four domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Each domain will be tested separately. Ask your multilingual scholar to show you the practice test online! They can open it from the home screen of their Chromebook, or you can use the WIDA website. Sample items for each grade level are here for students to practice. Students may also watch a test demo here so they know exactly what to expect. Watch out for more information next week, and reach out to the ELD teacher, Amanda Rogers (arogers@lakecountyschools.net), if you have any questions.
IXL Homework Update
Thank you for continuing to support your child with their IXL homework. A little every day is a great strategy for helping students build their skills.

Attendance
Let’s all work together to have the best attendance of the year during our last week of school in 2025! Teachers have many assignments and some assessments planned for your child. Help your child wrap up semester one strong by completing that work!
When students come to school every day, they build good habits, stay on track with learning, and feel more confident. Every day in school makes a difference!
Cold Weather
With the arrival of December comes colder temperatures. As a reminder, students at LCIS go outside for recess every day if the temperature is 10 degrees or above with a wind chill of 0 or higher. Please help your child come to school prepared to be outside in cold weather.
Communications:
From the School Based Health Center: We hope your kiddo has been smiling bright! If it’s time to get their next dental cleaning on the books, we have a few easy options to fit your family’s schedule.
