LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 12/19/25
Hello LCIS Families,
We hope you have a wonderful winter break filled with family, fun, and festivities. We truly hope that you are able to spend quality time with your child snuggling up with a book, playing games, or making some of your favorite holiday foods.
We’ve had a strong first semester and are excited to continue learning and growing together in the second semester. We’re so grateful to have your child as part of our school community and appreciative of your support and partnership.
Celebrations:
Our third graders showed craftsmanship as they hosted our December Community Meeting. Their decorations and costumes for the play Androcles and The Lion were created with care and attention to detail. The actors delivered a fine performance showing that practice.
We celebrated our December Class Attendance Reward on December 17th. Mrs. Duncan’s Crew had a 98% attendance rate for the month of December.
Our December Scholars of the Month for Craftsmanship
Upcoming:
Multilingual Assessment: ACCESS during January
Students who are English Language Learners will be taking the Access test in January. This is an exciting opportunity for students to demonstrate the English skills they’ve developed in the past year. The test consists of four domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Each domain will be tested separately. Ask your multilingual scholar to show you the practice test online! They can open it from the home screen of their Chromebook, or you can use the WIDA website. Sample items for each grade level are here for students to practice. Students may also watch a test demo here so they know exactly what to expect. Watch out for more information next week, and reach out to the ELD teacher, Amanda Rogers (arogers@lakecountyschools.net), if you have any questions.
IXL Homework Update- Winter Break Challenge!
We are looking for every LCIS Panther to spend 2 hours on Math skills and 2 hours on ELA skills over the winter break for a grand total of 4 hours. Every student who reaches this goal will earn play time with The Rizzler!
Attendance
We have 35 students with perfect attendance from Aug 11-Dec 18! This dedicated group of scholars will be invited to a skating party at the Huck Finn Ice Rink on Jan. 15.
School is back in session on Monday, January 5th. See you then!
Communications:
From the School Based Health Center: We hope your kiddo has been smiling bright! If it’s time to get their next dental cleaning on the books, we have a few easy options to fit your family’s schedule.
School-Based Health Centers (Lake, Park, and Summit Counties)
We’re excited to offer convenient in-school cleanings for just $25. If your child attends a participating school in Lake or Summit County, this is a super simple way to keep up with their dental care, no extra driving needed!
Pediatric Practice in Frisco
Prefer an in-office visit? We’d love to see you at our Frisco pediatric practice! It’s a great option if you’d like to be present during the appointment or if an after-school time works better for your family.
