Hello Families,
It’s been a fun week at LCES! On Thursday, we celebrated our students of the month for the habit of respect. We are so proud of each of these students for being leaders in their crew and for continuing to model kindness and respect throughout our building.
Halloween Day, October 31st:
Students are welcome to wear a costume to school on October 31st. In
in their specials classes PK-2, students will participate in Halloween themed activities. If you wish to opt your student out of these activities, please let the front office know and an alternative activity will be provided.
For more information on Halloween Day, please see the attached letter.
Please remember that we have our K-2 Dollar Day on Tuesday, October 31st. Please see the attached flier for more information.
Thank you all again for a great week. Please reach out at any time if you have questions, concerns, or celebrations you would like to share.
Thanks,
Katie Pongrekun

Staff of the Week Highlight!
Each week this year in family communication, we will be highlighting a staff member in the building. If you want, please feel free to send emails, handwritten notes, or letters of encouragement to that staff member.
Kelly Horning- PK Special Education Teacher
Ms. Kelly grew up in Hudson Valley, New York. She has her BA from Cornell University and her MA in Early Childhood Special Education from CU Denver. Ms. Kelly’s family has 28 chickens, 2 llamas, and 1 dog. In her time away from school Kelly likes to nordic ski and her dream vacation would be to visit New Zealand. When asked what inspires her, Ms. Kelly said “The kids I work with inspire me. Often there are major challenges they need to overcome and just getting to be a part of that for a little while is an honor.”
Send Ms. Kelly an encouraging note at khorning@lakecountyschools.net

K-2 Specifics
- Please remember to have your child to the building by 7:45 if you would like them to have breakfast in the morning. Thanks so much for helping with this.
- Looking for donations of size 6-8 pants/sweatpants for students who may need a change of clothes during the day.
- Please remember to send your child ready to go outside on a daily basis in the snow. Also, it is very helpful and important to have your child’s name on their snow clothes, gloves, hat, boots, etc. so that if they are misplaced or put in the lost and found we are able to get it back to them.
