LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 9-5-25
Hello LCIS Families,
We’ve had a fast but wonderful week at LCIS. As we move quickly into September, I wanted to make sure you knew that the Lake County School District is preparing to make some changes and we would like your voice heard in the process.
LCSD is engaging in a community-driven strategic planning process. The goal is to chart a shared vision for student success, resource allocation, and long-term community goals.
This survey has been open for about a month and will close on September 21. Now is the perfect time to let your voice be heard! Please take a few minutes to take the Strategic Plan Survey and help plan Lake County’s future.

Speaking of surveys! Please take the Calendar survey to share your thoughts on the LCSD calendar. This survey closes on September 8th.

Team Building with GOL! continued this week.
Our 3rd graders enjoyed team building days led by our partners at Get Outdoors Leadville! (GOL!). They went to CMC for a fun-filled day of outdoor activity, crew building, games, and challenges. They practiced curiosity while on a hiking scavenger hunt, collaboration during field games, and craftsmanship and perseverance while building forest shelters. They ended the day by using creativity to design crew flags and enjoyed our own homemade ice cream!
Team Building continues next week for 6th graders at COBS.
6th Graders will attend a day of team building at our local Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS) next week. Mrs. Potts’ crew (group A) will go on Monday, followed by Mrs. Martin’s crew (group B) on Tuesday, followed by Ms. Probst’s (group C) crew on Wednesday. If you have not yet registered your child for this programming, please do so here:
Group A, 9/8/2025 or Grupo A, 8 de septiembre de 2025
Group B, 9/9/2025 or Grupo B, 9 de septiembre de 2025
Group C, 9/10/2025 or Grupo C, 10 de septiembre de 2025
6th grade students who are not registered will not be allowed to attend.
IXL Homework Update
Students continue to solve many practice questions for their IXL homework. Fantastic! This year we are monitoring student growth. All students should be practicing their recommended skills as these skills are individually chosen to support each student. When you’re looking over your child’s shoulder, be sure to ask them which recommended skill they are working on. Thank you for supporting them with their homework. You make a difference!
Attendance Update
We had good attendance again this week and maintained an average of 95% of our students at school. We know that good attendance translates to good academic outcomes. Keep on showing up to have access to the learning. Your child being here makes a difference!
Every School Day Matters – LCIS Attendance Campaign 2025
Consistent attendance is key to success. Missing school—even a little—can keep students from reaching their potential. This year, LCIS is making attendance fun with exciting rewards:
Biweekly Pizza Raffles – Perfect attendance for two weeks = entry to win a family pizza!
Monthly Class Rewards – Top class earns special free play time.
Snow Tubing Trip – No absences Aug. 11–Dec. 19 = tubing at Dutch Henry Jan. 15.
Colorado Rockies Game – Half a day or less missed all year = trip to a Rockies game May 21.
It’s simple—come to school every day, give your best, and join the fun!
