LCES Families,
Thank you families for coming to our community meeting on Thursday to celebrate the HOWL of collaboration. We enjoyed getting to see the work second graders have been focusing on thus far. Shout out to our students of the month for Collaboration! Mark your calendars for our next community meeting on October 30 for the HOWL of Respect led by our first graders.

Starting Friday, September 25, if you have not created a parent account to access PowerSchool / PowerHub, be on the lookout for an email. It will include your username and a temporary password so that you can log into PowerHub to access all of your child’s grades, attendance, fees, and other information. This is also the system that will allow you to receive and send direct messages to teachers.
Monday, September 26 we will be conducting a practice lockdown drill. Please take a few minutes this weekend to talk with your child about this practice drill. Student and staff safety is our top priority and we look forward to completing a successful drill.
I truly appreciate building relationships with families to collaborate for our students as well as answer questions, celebrate successes, and listen to concerns.
We hope you have a wonderful fall weekend, Panther families!
Brandi Lovely, PK-2 Principal

If your student wins, we will send home a paper parent communication in their backpacks. You will also receive a text message from the front office. Students can earn HOWL Dollars by showing any of our HOWLs to any staff member in the school. The HOWL that we are focusing on for September is collaboration and we are excited to see you all at our community meeting celebrating this HOWL on September 25th!

Join Project Dream Fridays!
Project Dream has open spots to join for Friday programs. Friday programs are not reserved only for families with all parents working, they are available to all. Activities include social-emotional learning and outdoor, physical, and enrichment activities.Throughout the year there will be all-day and off-site programs, such as trips to outdoor recreation areas in Leadville and Buena Vista, swim lessons and visits to public pools in neighboring counties, special events with local partners, and our annual visit to the Denver Zoo.

The Lake County Public Health Agency is conducting a survey to better understand the health needs that matter most to families with young children. Sharing your experience can help ensure that future programs and resources support growing children and families during these important years. Please see the attached flier to take their survey and share your input.
Preschool classrooms will participate in the building wide lock down drill this coming Monday. Letters sharing this information went out in your child’s yellow folders. Teachers will be using a social story to help our preschoolers know what to expect. Please reach out if you have questions regarding these procedures.
We have one more week to wrap up our All About Me domain, then we will begin with some classic tales.
Enjoy your weekend! See you Monday!
