LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 9-27-24
Hello LCIS Panthers,
We had the first Student Led Community meeting of the school year on Wednesday. Our 6th graders shared narratives about a time when they were afraid. Their stories were full of similes, metaphors and beautiful imagery. They were also stories of personal triumph and bravery. These students had amazing presentations that showcased their growing writing skills!
We also honored our Scholars of the Month for the Habit of Responsibility. Next month we will recognize students who exemplify the habit of Respect. The targets connected to this habit are, “I see the value in others and I treat everyone with kindness.”
Homecoming Spirit week was full of fun! We hope you have time to attend some of the athletic events this weekend!
High School Football 9/27 7 pm Community Field
Middle School Football 9/28 9:30 am Community Field
High School Volleyball 9/28 noon Lake County High School
MS Volleyball 9/28 8am-3pm Summit County Middle School
Please join us in listening to a “State of the Schools” address on Monday, September 30th at Lake County Elementary School. Superintendent Kate Bartlett and Chief Financial Office Jim Mulcey will begin their presentation at 6:15 pm. You will be able to hear more about the state of our schools, the consolidation plan for LCIS and LCES, and mill levy overrides. Hope to see you there!
Our LCIS Panthers have answered over 20,000 questions on IXL this week! Awesome! At our Community Meeting, we celebrated the students from each grade level who have mastered the most IXL skills so far this year. Continue to encourage your child to work on English Language Arts and Math on IXL. A little practice every day adds up to increased academic achievement!
| Our attendance continues to hover in the mid to low 90 percentile. Please do everything you can to prioritize school and have your child at LCIS every day! Our first attendance celebration will be held on 10/10/24. We are planning our Fun Fruit Fest! | 3rd93.38%4th93.65%5th94.49%6th95.14% |
This coming week we will have our annual evacuation drill at LCIS. This practice allows students and staff to learn the expectations and routines in case we are ever faced with an actual crisis in which we had to leave the building. On October 3, we will walk to our evacuation site, practice our accountability, and have a brief presentation. Please take this opportunity to talk with your child about safety at school and at home.
As always, please contact LCIS if you have any questions about our Standard Response Protocol. Thank you for your support and for the privilege of educating your children!
