LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 1-30-26
Hello LCIS Families,
Congratulations to our LCIS students for showing responsibility and perseverance for our MWEA MAPS Reading and Math assessments this week. Across the building we saw strong growth in achievement. Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best work on these assessments.
The data below shows that in Reading our school-wide growth was at the 61st percentile with the average achievement median increasing by 13-points to land at the 45th percentile.

Our school-wide math growth was at the 66th percentile and we saw a 9-point increase in the average achievement median to land at the 39th percentile.

Celebrations:
Our 6th graders gave a wonderful performance about life in Athens and Sparta.
Congratulations to our scholars of the month for Collaboration!
Congratulations to Ms. Coon’s 3rd grade class for winning the January attendance award! This crew enjoyed playing activities with The Rizzler.
In Academic News:
Our 4th graders visited the Leadville National Mining Museum on Thursday to deepen their understanding about rocks and minerals as a part of their geology unit.
Upcoming:
LCIS Annual Scripps Spelling Bee:
On Tuesday, February 10th, LCIS will host its annual Scripps Spelling Bee. Students took home practice words over the winter break. Hopefully you’ve seen your child practicing their spelling words! Another way your child can practice is through the Word Club Spelling and Vocabulary app. Check it out! We will hold classroom competitions later this month to determine our finalists who will participate in our school-wide Bee.
IXL Homework:

It’s exciting to see that across LCIS students have mastered almost 10,000 skills and become proficient in over 10,000 skills. Every time your child works on their IXLrecommended skills they are attending to the learning that is specific to their needs and supporting them to grow in their reading and math. Please continue to encourage your child to do about 20 minutes of IXL each day as homework.
