LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 3-3-23
Hello LCIS Families,
We had so much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss Week! We enjoyed dressing up, finding the hidden Lorax each day and participating in our Dr. Seuss Panther Pride activity. A HUGE shout out to our wonderful librarian, Kim Osborn, for orchestrating the week’s events including daily book giveaways! Many thanks to her and the specials team for planning and facilitating the Panther Pride activities.
Dr. Seuss’s birthday was Thursday! LCIS celebrated by playing in the gym during specials time. In one game, the “Once-lers” are trying to keep the “Lorax” from replanting the Truffula trees. Students also had a “Green Eggs and Ham” relay race on scooters. The art station was a tutorial on Lorax drawing. What a wonderful week of reading fun!
Spring Conferences take place on Wednesday and Thursday this week! If you still need to schedule your child’s conference, Sign up here! Conferences will be held from 12 noon to 8 pm on March 8th and 9th and both of these days are half days for students followed by conferences. Your children have been working on their portfolios and are looking forward to sharing them with you!
There will be no Project Dream programming during conferences on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Please be sure to communicate after school transportation with our front office staff. Half days at LCIS begin at 8:05, with the building opening at 7:30, and ending at 11:15. Buses will run their regular routes. Students will still have the option for breakfast at school and lunch will be served prior to dismissal.
Please remember to visit the Scholastic Book Fair during conferences next week! The book fair will be at LCES from 12-8 pm on March 8th and 9th.
We had a great Community Meeting led by our 5th grade students. We honored our scholar of the month for Compassion and watched as students from Mr. Doug’s STEM class performed the Egg Drop. This challenge modeled how students would safely deliver food and water (the egg) to stranded hikers (a drop zone).
