Hello Center Families, It looks like the snow is here to stay! Yikes! The cold weather brings up a few notes and reminders for families. – Winter clothing – please send this with your child every day. Jackets, hats, gloves/mittens, boots, and snowpants are essential to outdoor play. You can take these back and forth every day or you leave them in the classroom until Thursday, whatever is most convenient. Lots of little winter clothing looks the same, please write your child’s name on or in each item. This helps out our teachers as they get a classroom full of preschoolers ready for outside play. It also makes returning lost items to you much easier! – Cameras and the front entrance – cold weather brings hoods and hats! This also makes it hard to see in our cameras who is at our doors. Please help by removing your hood or hat when you enter The Center’s main entrance. This will help us better see who is at our doors for entry, thanks for your help with this! – Sidewalks and parking lots – these get icy with the cold weather conditions. Please use caution when getting out of cars, going down stairs, ect. We want to keep everyone as safe as possible during the snowy, icy season. Thanks for a focus on warmth and safety as we enter what appears to be an early winter! Stay warm! Tanya Lenhard –PreK Director Office phone: 719-486-6928 Cell: 719-293-1055 tdlenhard@lakecountyschools.net Classroom and Curriculum Updates: Home to School Connection: – CKLA home to school connection tip: I am so excited to see our new Veterinary Center dramatic play centers. If you have any lightly used and clean stuffed animals pets that you’d like to donate to your child’s classroom we are accepting donations. This week your child is learning about the letter “Ff.” You can help support their learning by looking for the letter “Ff” in your environment, books, and around your home. “What would you do with a tail like this?” by Jenkins and Robin Page is highlighted this week. Ask your child to tell you about the story. Here is a link to the home school connection for this week. Zig-Zag Lines Help your child to practice pre-writing strokes by modeling and then trying zig-zag lines. Have fun! – Room 130: Room 130 is continuing their exploration of trees! Next week they will be reading the classic book, Henny Penny. Henny Penny Kelly Horning Assistant Director Office Phone: 719-486-6927 khorning@lakecountyschools.net Family Engagement Corner: Hello, Preschool Family: So far, our November Mornings have been full of cold SNOW and warm SMILES! What a treat it is to see your children with their smiling faces entering the building to start their day! This month, as we focus on helping children learn to be appreciative, it is important to have conversations about being thankful. Try the “Three Good Things” activity below with your family. Even as an adult, it is a good reminder to acknowledge and express an attitude of gratitude each day. SHARE “THREE GOOD THINGS” EACH DAY! As a family, make it a ritual to share three good things that happened that day. This is a perfect way to connect at dinnertime or bedtime. Simply ask children, “What made you happy today? What are you thankful for?” And don’t forget to share your own reflections, modeling for your kids a daily attitude of gratitude for the small things in life. Rhonda H.
