LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 9-12-24
Hello LCIS Panthers,
We have been thinking of you all this week and have missed being with your children at school. We know that the closure of school has been stressful, scary, and frustrating. We are hopeful that we will all be together again immersed in the learning on Monday.
It’s been great to see the high usage of IXL by our students over these past couple of days while students are at home. On Wednesday, our students logged almost 2,000 minutes of usage!
From last week to this week, we’ve answered over 23,000 questions! And our students have mastered an additional 500 skills! Keep it up Panthers!
Please join us on Thursday for our Annual Outdoor Art Show and Open House!
We will begin on the LCIS Playground at 5:30 with a musical performance followed by time to view the artwork in the woods. At 6pm LCIS classrooms will be open for you to visit your child’s teacher and see the progress they are making on their school work.
Mrs. Probts’ Crew had a great time at the Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS) on Monday and Tuesday this week. While there, students participated in team building activities, braved the high ropes course, had a campfire and ate s’mores, and slept under tarps. Even though it rained on them three times, a good time was had by all!
This coming week our final 6th grade class will attend an overnight trip to COBS. We’re so glad that COBS was able to reschedule this camping experience!
- Mrs. Martin’s class will leave for COBS on Wednesday morning at 8:30 and return to LCIS at the end of the day on Thursday.
- Please review the packing list that your child brings home to ensure that they have the necessary equipment for this adventure.
- Thank you to GOL and COBS for allowing our students to have this amazing experience!
Even with a short week, we still had strong attendance. We prioritize safety and learning at school every day. Thank you for sending your child to school! | 3rd 93.81% 4th 94.44% 5th 96.79% 6th 97.01% |
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 25 for our first student-led Community Meeting of the year! Our 6th graders are preparing to share work from their first ELA unit on Narrative Writing and all teachers are looking forward to naming the Scholar of the Month for Responsibility.
The Habits of Work and Learning (HOWL) focus for September is Responsibility. The targets connected to this habit are, “I take care of myself, others, and our environment.” and “I take ownership of my learning, my actions, and my mistakes.”
