LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 8-22-25
Hello LCIS Families,
We’re excited to share that our students are settling in nicely and getting comfortable with their daily routines. It’s wonderful to see their focus on learning, along with plenty of smiles and fun throughout the day. This week has been all about building strong habits, making new friends, and enjoying the start of a great school year!
Academic Update
Across the building, our students are diving into narratives in their ELA classes.
- 6th graders are focusing on capturing a moment with descriptive language to bring scenes to life.
- 4th and 5th graders are reading a variety of personal narratives as they prepare to write their own stories.
- 3rd graders are exploring imaginative stories and learning about their key elements.
There’s so much enjoyable reading and writing happening in our classrooms!
Assessment Update
Last week, students completed their NWEA MAP tests in ELA and Math. These beginning-of-year assessments provide valuable information to help teachers understand what your child already knows and what skills they are still developing.
Next week, students will take the DIBELS benchmark reading test. This assessment gives teachers additional targeted data to better support your child’s reading growth.
Celebrations
We had our first Community Meeting of the 2025- 2026school year on Wednesday. Teachers, staff and administrators are all so excited to have the students back in the building and begin another fabulous year of learning at LCIS!
Attendance Update
We had strong attendance this week with 96% of our students at school and almost all of them showing up on time! Remember, school starts promptly at 8 AM, so be sure to have your student to school by 7:55 so that they have time to get settled before they start Crew.
Our first Biweekly Attendance Pizza Raffle will take place on Monday, August 25. Any student who has 100% attendance for these first two weeks of school will be eligible to win a pizza for their family!
Our first Monthly Class Attendance Party will take place on Thursday, August 28. This award goes to the class with the highest attendance for the month of August.
Every School Day Matters – LCIS Attendance Campaign 2025

Snow Tubing Trip – No absences Aug. 11–Dec. 19 = tubing at Dutch Henry Jan. 15.

IXL Homework Update
Students are actively working on practicing their recommended IXL skills in ELA and Math. As a school we have answered 34,064 questions! Remember our homework goal is for students to work for one hour on ELA skills each week and one hour on Math skills each week. Remind your student to work on their recommended skills as this will help them make growth across both areas.
Go Panthers!

LCSD Strategic Plan Survey
This fall, we are launching a community-driven strategic planning process to help guide our priorities and investments in the years ahead. We want to ensure every student is thriving—and that means listening to the ideas, hopes, and experiences of our families, staff, students, and community.
We want to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to share your perspective through our Strategic Plan Survey and help spread the word to other families and community members.
