    August 21, 2026 ~ CCHS Family Communication

    We welcome all parent communication at CCHS!
    Please feel free to contact us using any of these methods:
    CCHS Office 719-486-6980
      Cathleen Hall – Secretary chall@lakecountyschools.net
    CCHS Cell Phone 719-293-5904 (accepts texts)
     Katherine Kerrigan – Principal 719-427-0114 kkerrigan@lakecountyschools.net

    * News from our principal, Katherine Kerrigan *

    This week, we officially started our academic classes! Students are settling into their routines, learning what is expected of them, and understanding the steps they need to take to successfully graduate.

    We have seen an increase in absences this week without communication from parents/guardians. If your student is going to be absent, please make sure you contact the office or the office cell phone. You are welcome to call and leave a message or text the office cell phone. Communication is very important so we know our students are safe and accounted for.

    CTE/WBL Career Tour – Thursday, August 27

    CCHS Firecamp 8/27/26 fieldwork Note Home Eng & Spa.docx

    Next Thursday will be our CTE/WBL Day, and students will be off campus for a career tour. All students are expected to be at school by 8:10 a.m.

    We will be visiting Colorado Firecamp, where students will learn how they work to protect lives, preserve communities, and conserve America’s wildland resources. Students will get an inside look at training for wildfire suppression, wildfire risk mitigation, and the stewardship of forests and grasslands. They will also learn about the many different career opportunities connected to wildland firefighting and fire management.

    We are excited to give our students the opportunity to explore these careers and learn directly from professionals in the field!

    As always, please reach out to the school if you have any questions or concerns — or if you simply want to stop by. We are always happy to hear from you!

    Cloud City High School Family Newsletter

    Welcome! We are so excited to welcome both our new and returning students into the building on Monday and to begin the 2026–27 school year together.

    We also recognize that this summer has brought uncertainty for many in our community, particularly with the fire so close to home. Experiences like these can leave lingering feelings of uncertainty, stress, or anxiety for students and families. Please remember that we have supports and resources available. If your student needs additional support as we return to school, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here for you.

    School begins promptly each day at 8:10 a.m.

    For our first week, students will participate in our DisOrientation schedule. During DisOrientation, we spend the day together as a school community—including lunch—as we reconnect, welcome new students, build relationships, and prepare for the year ahead.

    Please note the schedule for the week:

    * Monday: On campus

    * Tuesday: Off campus

    *Wednesday: Off campus

    * Thursday: On campus
    School photos will be taken Thursday morning for student IDs.

    By the end of the week, your student’s academic schedule will be finalized, and they will be enrolled and ready to begin academic classes on Monday, August 17.

    Your student’s ACE Success Leader will reach out by email or text with a copy of their finalized academic schedule.

    We are looking forward to a great first week and an incredible year together. Thank you for being part of the Cloud City community. Please reach out if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to help your student start the year feeling supported and ready.

Message from the Principal

Welcome families and friends to Lake County’s Cloud City High School. I am honored to be the principal of this amazing alternative educational campus. We may be the smallest school within our community, but we do mighty things. Cloud City High School is designed to serve the students who do not quite fit into the traditional educational setting due to extenuating life factors. Cloud City High School staff work very closely with each individual student to help remove barriers and create opportunities for each and every student based on each student’s strengths, interests, and needs. Through the guidance of the staff, every student is able to create an individual self-directed path through their course work, work-based learning, and community service to develop skills and show growth to meet the demands of the 21st century global society. Every day we honor, encourage, and support diversity and celebrate our differences. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about our unique opportunity within the Lake County School District, please reach out directly to find out more.
