Dear LCES Families and Guardians,

What a wonderful first week of school at LCES! Our building was alive with vibrant, joyful energy, and it was such a gift to see our PK-5 students learning, laughing, and growing together in one building!

Thank you for your patience and grace this first week, especially during dismissal. We know the wait times have been longer than we want them to be, and we truly appreciate your understanding as we refine our systems to make dismissal as smooth, safe, and quick as possible.

It was also wonderful to welcome so many families for lunch with their K-5 students! As a safety reminder, please remain in the cafeteria and say goodbye with a hug before your student transitions back to class. See the grade level specific lunch times below.

On Thursday, we celebrated Independence Day with our K-5 students and families! Beginning Monday, please drop your student off at the back door/drop-off lane or the front door and help us celebrate their independence by allowing them to walk to their classroom on their own.

Please review the K-5 specifics and The Center specifics below for more information about each level.

Have a wonderful weekend, LCES families! See you Monday!

With gratitude,

Brandi Lovely, PK-5 Principal

From the Office:

Power Hub App is back up and working!

Thank you for your patience while Power School worked on the app. It is back up and working and able to take payments.

Please let the office know if you have any other troubles or need help with the app.

LCES Important Dates (PK – 5th)

September 9: K-5 Open House at LCES 6:00-7:00pm

K-5 Specifics

NWEA MAP Testing: Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing will take place this week for all students in grades 3-5. Students will take a reading and math assessment that will measure their current academic achievement level and any growth they’ve made from the previous time they took the test. Teachers are preparing their students for the assessment. Please help your child be ready for these tests by helping them to be at school every day following a good night’s sleep, and encourage them to try their best on the assessments.

All Kids Bike Assembly: On Thursday, we had a special assembly and presentation for Mrs. Ayers’ PE class and the K-2 students. Thanks to Life Time Foundation, Ford Bronco Wild Fund, and All Kids Bike, LCES received a generous donation of 25 strider bikes for use here at school, specifically the PE curriculum. The bike reveal was a special time and students are thrilled for this new opportunity! Many thanks to our partners for the generous donation!

Come Have Lunch With Your Student!: We would love to welcome you into our school for lunch! Sharing a meal with your child is a wonderful way to see our new building, connect with your student during the day, and experience our school community.

Please review the LCES Lunch Visitor Flyer for important visitor expectations, and be sure to sign in at the front office when you arrive. We can’t wait to have you join us!

K-5 Project Dream

Project Dream begins afterschool for LCES on Monday August 17th. Confirmations for registered students were given out at orientation conferences or via email or phone call with Blanca Rodriguez. Due to increased interest and program capacity limitations, we currently have a waitlist for afterschool and Friday programs. If you did not receive a confirmation, then your student is not registered at this time. If you are unsure if your student is registered, you can contact Blanca Rodriguez.

As a reminder, all programs are taking place at Lake County Intermediate School (1000 W 6th Street) this year. If you pick up your student from Project Dream, please do so at LCIS from 5:15-6:00 pm.

If you student takes the bus home from Project Dream, you can find the bus schedule on our Project Dream Information Site for LCES: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/elementary-school-info/

Thank you and see you at LCIS!

The Center Specifics

Dear Preschool Families,

What an amazing 1st week in school! This week our classrooms focused on learning our routines, engaging with new friends, playing outside, and exploring their classroom spaces and materials.  It was a great and very busy week!

I want to thank all of our families for such smooth arrival and dismissal procedures this week.  We have loved greeting you in the morning!  Arrival by 9:10 is best so your child can begin the classroom routines and enjoy breakfast.  We know our doors are not fully operational right now and apologize for the inconvenience.  While we are working on a fix, please know you can also go to the LCES main entrance and the front office staff will radio us as needed if the door stop gets out.

For families that also have K-5 children, please note that on Monday you will want to have your K-5 student go to the main LCES entrance while you use the PreK entrance for your preschooler.  For dismissal, please use our entrance and sign out your preschooler and then follow the K-5 dismissal procedures at either the front entrance or through the pick up lane for your older children.

Please reach out if you have any questions or needs, we are here as your child’s educational partner.  Have a wonderful weekend.  We will see you Monday!
