Paw Prints August 2015 Parent Newsletter
Dear Lake County School District families:
Welcome to a new school year! We are looking forward to the first days of school next week. We have some exciting updates as we head into the new year.
Coming Soon: Sunday Night Shout Out
In September, in an effort to keep parents even better informed about happenings in our schools, principals will be starting a new tradition called the Sunday Night Shout Out. Parents will receive a recorded voice message from school administrators on most Sunday evenings with good news and upcoming events information for their student’s school. This voice message will be sent to parent phone numbers in PowerSchool. If we don’t have your correct contact information, please visit your school front office. As a reminder, principals and other administrators are always available to you. Please call the school anytime you wish to set up a conference with one of our administrators. We want to hear from you!
Language Learning Comes to West Park & LCIS
Parents, we heard you! Many parents have suggested that the addition of a language learning program for the younger grades in LCSD would be a welcome offering. We agree! This year, students in grades K-6 will now have this opportunity. During their technology specials time, English-speaking students will have the opportunity to learn Spanish, and Spanish-speaking students will continue their work on English, using an online program called Muzzy. Students will also be able to access Muzzy from home. More information for parents will be available at Family Orientation Conferences at West Park next week and in a letter home to K-6 families. To learn more about Muzzy, visit www.muzzybbc.com.
