DOOR Green Team Meets Jane Goodall at Awards Ceremony
Last spring, the LCHS DOOR program Green Team learned that it had received a Certificate of Recognition from Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program for its good work to make our schools greener. Last week, students had the opportunity to attend the Roots & Shoots Rally in Boulder and to meet Jane Goodall in person. Jane’s introduction and speech sent the message that can be summarized as: “every one of us can make a difference every day. And we have a choice as to what kind of difference we make. … It may seem small. But when you get millions and billions of people, all making the right choices in their daily lives, then it gets to make a big difference.” Afterwards, each recognized group had the chance to plant a tree. Jane then met with each group. She talked about the chimp she chose for each group, the importance of working to protect the environment and her commitment to animal rights activism. Congratulations to the DOOR Green Team on this outstanding accomplishment and honor!
