Schools Closed for the Remainder of the School Year
Lake County Families,
We hope you are doing well, staying healthy and enjoying the time spent with family.
As you may have already heard, yesterday in a press release Governor Polis declared K-12 school districts and postsecondary institutions will continue to suspend normal in-person instruction until the end of the school year. This means our schools will not reopen this year.
We will continue distance learning through the end of this school year. Thanks to all of our educators for making distance learning possible!
We will also continue to deliver meals through the end of the year and are working on plans to continue meal delivery through the summer. A big thank you to all staff and volunteers who are working on preparing and delivering meals. As of Monday, 29,403 meals have been delivered here in Lake County!
In order to support health and safety all end of year events and celebrations have been cancelled with one exception, high school graduation. The high school is working with stakeholders, including students, parents, staff and the County Health Department to design a modified graduation celebration that meets physical distancing protocols and honors our seniors. More information will be shared once plans are finalized.
Each school is also working on a plan for students and families to come in and pick up any remaining work and personal items that are still in school buildings. Those plans will follow health and safety guidelines. More information will be coming.
We are so grateful for the support you are offering your students at home during this challenging time. We truly are all in this together. We miss you all!
