Loss of staff member at LCSD
Dear Lake County School District Community,
We are very sorry to share the sad news that over the weekend we have lost our friend and colleague Jorge Legarda Guerrero. Jorge served as part of our custodial team at LCHS where he was loved by both students and staff. For those who knew Jorge we will greatly miss his kind demeanor and friendly smile.
It is very tragic to lose a member of our LCSD family.
Jorge is survived by his wife Lupe, who also works with us at Lake County High School, his children, and grandchildren. This loss will be felt across the district and our community.
Many of our students, families and staff were close with Jorge. We may all express grief in different ways and need different support. And, often loss can trigger past emotions. If you or your child are in need of support you may wish to reach out to Sol Vista at 719-486-0985. We have included a few additional resources for parents that offer strategies for supporting your child with grief or loss.
In response to this loss, Lake County High School staff will lead a student crew activity tomorrow, February 7th, to acknowledge this event and let students know of the support available to them. One of these supports will be a sympathy card for Jorge’s family, that student senate will have available in Ms. Kimmie’s classroom, that students can sign throughout the remainder of this week. Our other schools will have a box available this week that students or community members can drop cards into, as well, which will be provided to the family.
This may be a difficult time for all of us. Please reach out to a school district administrator if your child is in need of support in any way.
