Welcome back to school!
Dear LCSD Parents & Caregivers:
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! For those of you who I haven’t met yet, my name is Kate Bartlett and I am the Superintendent of the Lake County School District. While this is my first year in the Superintendent role, I worked for the district previously from 2010-2019. It’s great to be back!
The first thing I want you to know is how grateful we are that you are trusting us with your children this year. They are our most precious beings, and as a mom myself (Annie, 11th grade), I know how hard it is to let them go. Please know that your children’s physical and emotional safety is our top priority. Once we have created a safe learning environment, our goal is to provide opportunities for your kids to learn new things, to push themselves academically and to become positive members of our school community.
Our school district is constantly working to improve. I have shared with our teachers and staff that my metaphor for the year is, “Little by little, the hen drinks the water.” Every day we are going to be working on being good partners to you as families, and to be the best, supportive role models we can be for your kids. We won’t get it perfect all the time. And when we don’t, we are counting on you to share your feedback with us. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but over time our small actions to improve and be responsive will add up.
