Equity Update

Dear Families and Community Members,

We feel that it is extremely important to keep you informed on the steps we are taking to address the student-walkout incident that occurred at LCHS. We have been working diligently on addressing the concerns that were identified through parent and student feedback sessions.

Current Status:

  • Finalizing with the Western Educational Equity Assistance Center who conducted our equity audit in 2019 to plan for the development of an equity trajectory to address this incident and further equity work in the district. We had been in contact with several other companies to outsource this work and their fees (over $100,000) put them out of reach. We are confident in moving forward with Western Educational Equity Assistance Center that we will receive an unbiased, third-party audit and recommendations for moving forward. This work will begin this semester and continue through the summer months.
  • Identifying Andi Weigel as our local facilitator of the work to coordinate with Western Educational Equity Assistance Center and any other outside partners we identify.
  • Researching equity investigators to come in and do a thorough investigation of the allegations made and our current practices.  We are working with the Western Educational Equity Assistance Center to find an independent investigator that they have worked with in the past to run this process.

We appreciate your understanding as we work toward addressing these concerns in a thoughtful and transparent manner. As always, please reach out to us with any questions or concerns. We want to continue to have open lines of communication with parents and community members.

Sincerely,

Andi Weigel, M.Ed.
