Friday Program Offerings

The following programs will be offered during Friday – Project Dream. In the morning, all programs are provided at no-cost. All students will participate in an academic block and a social-emotional learning (SEL) block. Students may choose their afternoon programs when registering for Friday – Project Dream. Tuition fees are listed for each afternoon program; however, no student will be turned away based on finances. Transportation to all programs will be provided if the student is participating in the entire day.

Fiesta Club

Description: This morning academic block will be held on Fridays to promote Spanish language skills. Students in grades K-2 will utilize the Salsa Spanish curriculum from Georgia Public Broadcasting’s award-winning Spanish language series for young learners in kindergarten through the third grade. Puppets in familiar stories, digital graphics and animation teach the language. Students in grades 3-6 will utilize the Supplemental Spanish curriculum from PBS. This organization of lessons provides students with comprehensive instruction in Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures, with an emphasis on literature, media, and common words and expressions for daily use.

SELOOST

Description: This social-emotional learning block will be held in the morning for all students who attend Friday programming. Students will participate in a 1.5 hour Crew block utilizing the Random Acts of Kindness curriculum. The mission of The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation is to make kindness the norm in schools, workplaces, homes & communities. Content promotes kindness toward others & teaches important social emotional learning skills to kids.

Description: The Bill Koch program is designed for beginners and will teach basic nordic ski skills. All skiing will take place on the Colorado Mountain College ski trails. Students are more than welcome to bring their own gear; however, gear will be provided if needed. This program will only run until spring break. Please contact the Project Dream Site Supervisor at your child’s school if you would like to enroll your child in another program following spring break.

elevateHER

Description: elevateHER is a program for girls grades 6-12. It fosters self-worth and grit in young women through mentoring, outdoor adventure, and holistic wellness programs. The purpose of elevateHER is to invest in the next generation of women and enable them to be strong, confident, and self-aware, through empowering them to take on any challenge while building an appreciation and love for the outdoors. Girls will do various outdoor activities such as: skiing, hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, etc. Integrated into all programming is leadership, mindfulness, and life skill building. elevateHER programming will take place from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm for 10 weeks starting the first week of October. All gear (both outdoor clothing and technical gear) is provided by elevateHER. Students may come to the high school in the morning for breakfast and a study hall then participate in programming. elevateHER participants will be transported home by elevateHER staff.

Farm to School with C4

Description: From seed to table to compost, students will see the entire cycle of our food! Students will work with the farmer at the Cloud City Conservation Center Greenhouse to learn about farming food and assist in the growing of food at the local greenhouse. They will then learn how to cook with the vegetables that have been grown and finally learn what happens with food when it is returned to the soil by assisting with the compost program.

Full Circle

Description: Students will be participating in a variety of activities with Full Circle staff which range from art to sledding to just hanging out with friends. Students must be part of Full Circle in order to sign up for Full Circle activities. If students are in high school, they will be participating in either the Youth Action Squad or Family Leadership Training Institute with Full Circle in the morning.

Maximum number of students: 13 for 4th-6th grade; 10 for 7-8th grade; 10 for 9-12th grade

GOL! Biking Club 

Description: This club will offer an array of biking activities from learning about bike mechanics to getting out and riding both dirt and snow-packed trails. Bicycles and helmets for all seasons will be provided but students should make sure to come equipped with proper clothing.

GOL! Hunting and Fishing Club 

Description: In this club students will learn all the basics to be successful hunters and fishers. Knowledge gained will include: basic safety, animal tracking, food storage and preparation, plus much more! Please note that students will not do any rifle hunting during this club.

GOL! Outdoor Club 

Description: In this outdoor-based club students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of outdoor activities including: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking, and hiking. Students will get their fill of nature each day as they explore and enjoy the world around them!

Lake County Aquatic Center Swim Lessons

Description: Swim lessons are held at the Lake County Aquatic Center. Students will receive 45 minutes of instruction and have about 45 minutes for free swim. Qualified instructors will teach students skills to work up to a level where students could either join a swim team or carry with them a lifelong skill. Students will be placed in Level 1, 2, or 3 depending on their skillset and progress through these levels.

Lake County Public Library STEM Club

Description: This STEM Club will work on inquiry-based Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related activities. Students will go to the library to partake in this club having the opportunity to explore coding, robots, and mathematical problems.

Project Dream Club

Description: Students who participate in the Project Dream Club will participate in a variety of activities from gym games to classroom activities. This club incorporates all different kinds of activities students may do during after school programs. It will be active and engaging!

YTD Nordic Skiing

Description: The YTD Nordic Ski program is designed for students who have some nordic skiing experience but would like to advance their skills. There will be some local competitions students may choose to participate in. All skiing will take place on the Colorado Mountain College ski trails. Students are more than welcome to bring their own gear; however, gear will be provided if needed. This program will only run until spring break. Please contact the Out of School Time Site Supervisor at your school if you would like to enroll your child in another program following spring break.
