Dear LCHS Families,
We wanted to inform you of a situation that occurred at Lake County High School this week.
On Wednesday evening, a staff member received an email from a student that included a direct threat to the staff member’s safety. In response, law enforcement was notified. While law enforcement offered additional presence on campus Thursday, the student was not at school and the location of the student was known by school administration, the district, and law enforcement.
Law enforcement has and continues to update the district on the ongoing status of the investigation and their next steps.
We are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning environment for all students and staff, as such we will continue to work with law enforcement to stay informed and plan accordingly. Additionally, for the safety and wellness of both the staff member and the student, we want to be thoughtful about what we share and how we move forward.
At this time there is no immediate concern for safety at school. We will provide additional information should the situation change. We appreciate the responsiveness and partnership with law enforcement.
