Dear LCHS Families,
As we move into the second half of the year, we are beginning an important next step as a school. Our staff has started building a shared Vision of Instruction.
Over the past year, we have focused on strengthening culture, consistency, and expectations across our building. That foundation matters. Now we are turning more directly toward the core of our work: what high-quality teaching and learning look like in every classroom.
A Vision of Instruction helps us define that clearly. It answers questions such as: What should students consistently experience in their classes? What does strong planning look like? How do we ensure students are actively thinking, discussing, and engaging with meaningful content? How do we monitor progress and respond when students need support?
This is not about adding a new initiative. It is about creating clarity and alignment so that every student benefits from strong instruction, every day, in every classroom.
Families are important partners in this work. Encouraging your student to stay engaged, ask questions, and take ownership of their learning reinforces what we are building at school. When expectations are clear and support is consistent, students grow.

Spring sports are just around the corner! The first day of practice for HS track & field and girls’ soccer is Monday, February 23.
MS girls’ soccer will begin practice on March 2, and their first game is March 14, which is at the end of spring break week.

Hello LCHS families,
You will soon receive an email invitation from YouScience, our school’s college and career readiness platform, inviting you to create a parent/guardian account. There is no cost to families, and YouScience does not sell student or parent data.
What is YouScience?
YouScience is a platform to help students discover their strengths, aptitudes, and prepare for college and career readiness.
A YouScience parent/guardian account provides families with direct access to their students’ career and aptitude insights, helping you better support educational and career planning. Once set up, you’ll be able to view key information about your students’ progress and achievements.
What you’ll be able to access
- Aptitude results: View outcomes from aptitude assessments that measure natural talents such as problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and numerical reasoning.
- Certification updates: Track progress and achievements related to industry-recognized credentials (IRCs) earned through CTE courses.
- Career and aptitude insights: Access personalized results that connect your student’s strengths to potential career pathways and post-secondary options.
- Work-based learning (WBL) forms: Review and sign important WBL documents, if applicable to your student.
Why this matters for families
YouScience helps students:
- Identify strengths they may not yet recognize
- Explore careers they may not have previously considered
- Understand what different careers look like day-to-day and what pathways lead there
- Document achievements they can include on resumes, scholarship applications, and post-secondary plans
With a parent/guardian account, families have a centralized, transparent view of their student’s career and aptitude information – making it easier to stay informed, support meaningful conversations at home, and celebrate progress along the way.
