Board of Education announces finalists for next superintendent
Last fall, we announced that we would be searching for a superintendent to succeed Dr. Wendy Wyman when she leaves at the end of this school year. The application for the position closed in January, and we have invited the two finalists to come to the district at the end of February for in-person interviews.
You are invited to meet the finalists on February 28, 2020, at a town hall meeting open to the public and moderated by Marcia Martinek in the high school auditorium from 5:45–7:00 pm. The town hall will be followed by a meet and greet in the cafeteria from 7:00–8:00 pm.
Aron Jones is currently the principal of Parkview Elementary School in Lamar, Colorado. Mr. Jones taught third and fifth grades for a decade before becoming a principal in 2011. He has served as a teacher mentor and coached students’ academic and athletic teams, including Brain Bowl, spelling bee, high school golf, girls’ basketball, and boys and girls’ track. Mr. Jones grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, and is a champion of public, rural education.
John Pandolfo is currently the superintendent of schools for Barre Unified Union School District (BUUSD) in Barre, Vermont. Mr. Pandolfo worked for eight years as a professional engineer before entering the teaching profession and serving as a high school math teacher for 17 years. In 2012, he became the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for BUUSD. He was appointed superintendent of schools in 2015. Mr. Pandolfo’s teaching background keeps him focused on the needs of students and the importance of teachers.
During the Town Hall, you will have the opportunity to ask questions of and provide feedback on the candidates. Choosing the next superintendent for the LCSD is a decision that will impact our entire community for many years to come. We want to hear from you.
We expect to name a new superintendent this spring, before the end of the school year.
