School Safety Update ~Wednesday Closure, 9.11.24 12:45 am

Dear LCSD Families, 

We apologize for the very early email. On the advice of and in collaboration with Sheriff Speckman, we have decided not to hold school today, Wednesday, in order to keep students and staff safe in the wake of the school safety concerns that have emerged since midday today and ongoing into the night and early morning. 

We will be working closely with law enforcement on appropriate next steps as they work through their investigations, and we will keep you informed.

All schools will be closed on Wednesday and all activities are canceled for the day. This includes any scheduled field trips, athletic events and after school programming. 

We will continue to work closely with the Sheriff and his team, and we will update you as we have new information to share. We understand that closing school is challenging for families on multiple levels. We will be working on a plan for a safe return to school so that our students and staff can get back to the business of learning.
