Dear Families and Guardians,

What a wonderful evening at our K-2 Spring Music Concert last night! Thank you to all of our families for the incredible turnout and support of our students. Our young performers did an amazing job, and it was so special to see our school community come together to celebrate their hard work, confidence, and talent. We are so proud of them!

As we head into the final weeks of the school year, our calendar is filling up quickly with exciting events, celebrations, and important reminders. Please continue to read this weekly communication each week so you don’t miss important updates and information. There is a lot happening as we wrap up a fantastic school year together!

We are also excited to share that, at first glance, we are seeing incredible growth and progress from our students on the end-of-year literacy benchmark assessments. Our students have worked so hard this year, and it is wonderful to see that effort shining through in their results. Teachers are looking forward to sharing more information and celebrating student growth with families soon!

One small but important reminder: please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes in their backpack for unexpected spills or accidents. We also kindly ask that any borrowed school clothing be returned when possible. This helps us keep our extra clothing stockpile healthy and available for students who may need it throughout the day.

Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and encouragement. We are looking forward to an exciting and joyful last couple of weeks of school!

With appreciation,

Go Panthers!

Attendance Pizza Challenge: Congratulations to our April 27th- May 7th pizza attendance challenge winner!  We hope your family enjoys some delicious pizza and thank you for having zero absences for the last 2 weeks of school!   Remember to use the attendance tracking calendar at home with your student to help your student keep on track for all of the fun challenges and prizes we have regarding attendance this year.  Our next pizza attendance challenge begins on Monday, May 11th and ends on May 21st! See details in the fliers section below!

May Attendance Challenge: We have started a new monthly attendance challenge! The class with the best attendance percentage for the whole month will receive an extra recess at the end of the month. Please try to send your student to school every day, unless they are too sick. We appreciate your help in reaching our 94% attendance goal!

Semester 2 Attendance Challenge:

The semester 2 attendance challenge has ended!  We had 34 students who qualified for this special event by having 1 or fewer absences from Jan 5th-April 30th!  This is double the number of students who qualified for the event last year!  WOW!  We are so excited to cheer on the Rockies with these students at Coors Field on May 20th!  Thank you for continuing to make sure your student is present at school every day as long as they are healthy so we can finish out the year strong!

HOWLs Q4 Challenge: We are excited to announce our quarter 4 HOWLs challenge!  Your student will try to earn as many HOWL Dollars as they can for the chance to earn cotton candy and extra recess with the principals at the end of the quarter!  The top six HOWL dollar earners in each class will win.  If your student wins, we will send home a paper parent communication in their backpack.  You will also receive a text message from the front office. Students can earn HOWL Dollars by showing any of our HOWLs to any staff member in the school.

The Center Specifics

Dear Center Families,

The first week of May came and went!  With the ever changing Colorado weather, please be sure to continue to send your child with a jacket, a hat, and some light mittens of gloves every day.  We do like to get outside as much as possible and we want everyone to feel warm and comfortable while they play.

Our program will have an upcoming on-site Head Start Focus Area 1 monitoring review starting May 19-21.  You may see some extra people in our program during this time.  This is a part of our Head Start grant and gives us the opportunity to showcase our work and efforts and get feedback on areas that we can improve and grow.

Next week on Friday, we have our 2nd home visit with families for children enrolled in Head Start.  Please schedule a time for this with your child’s teacher.  For families not in Head Start, you will receive your child’s final TS GOLD report and a 2nd DECA report in your child’s yellow folder next Thursday.  Reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions regarding this information.

We have first selection for the 2026-2027 preschool year next Friday May 15.  Please be sure we have your child’s application and all other necessary information by Wednesday May 13.  Reach out with any questions!

Enjoy your weekend, see you Monday!

From the Assistant Director

Hello Families,

What a great week it has been.

We have seen an increase in toys and stuffed animals coming to school. Please remember to keep toys at home, and only one stuffed animal to be used during nap time. All stuffies will be kept in the child’s cubby/backpack during school hours, and brought out during that  time.

Please remember when signing your child in and out, please make sure to include the time and print or your  signature must be legible.

May tuition has been applied to your child’s account. The due date is by May 5, to avoid a $10.00 late fee.

We know that our district phones have been in and out lately. If your child is absent, we encourage you to text Marissa at 719-427-7075 or LCES Office Cell phone 719-293-0931 before 9:20am. This will allow the time to mark your child with an excused absence. The following system shows our steps if we do not receive attendance communication from families.  This process is a part of our Attendance Policy.

  1. At 9:30 the automatic phone system will call any family we have not heard from.
  2. At 10:30 Raquel will begin to directly reach out to families regarding your child’s absence.

Your communication supports accurate data so we can respond accordingly if we are seeing trends, like child illness. Thank you for your partnership and your communication!

Have a great weekend!

Mental Health Matters This May

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a great time to check in on your student’s emotional well-being. Stress, anxiety, and end-of-year transitions can impact how students feel and perform. The School-Based Health Centers through Elevated Community Health are here to support students with a safe, supportive space and access to care right on campus.

Looking ahead to summer, select School-Based Health Centers will remain open, so students can continue receiving care even when school is out.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 970-710-5049.
