LCES Families,
We apologize that our school phones are sometimes not working. We understand how frustrating this can be and appreciate your patience as we work to fix the issue. If you are unable to reach the front office, please use the front office cell phone number: 719-293-0931
K-2 students had a great Thursday during Panther Day to celebrate spring and make baskets. Happy Spring!

Reading with your child each day makes a big difference. Research shows that daily reading helps build vocabulary, strengthens comprehension, and supports success in school. If you are in need of books, please let your child’s classroom teacher or the front office know. We have plenty we can share!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful to work together to help your children grow and succeed.
Go Panthers and have a great weekend!

April HOWL (Habit of Work & Learning) Focus: Curiosity
For the month of April, we are celebrating the HOWL of curiosity. Curiosity means, “I can explore new ideas by asking questions and seeking answers about the world around me.” The Student of the Month for each crew will be announced at our next community meeting on April 30th. If your student is chosen by their teacher, we will reach out at the beginning of that week to let you know!
Attendance
Attendance Pizza Challenge: Our next pizza attendance challenge ends Thursday, April 23rd! See details in the fliers section below!
April Attendance Challenge: We have started a new monthly attendance challenge! The class with the best attendance percentage for the whole month will receive an extra recess at the end of the month. Please try to send your student to school every day, unless they are too sick. We appreciate your help in reaching our 94% attendance goal!
Semester 2 Attendance Challenge:
The semester 2 attendance challenge is here! This semester, K-2 students who have 1 or fewer absences will have the opportunity to attend a Rockies baseball game in Denver at Coors Field on May 20th! We will be checking attendance from Jan 5th-April 30th to see who qualifies. Families will be notified if your student has earned this opportunity the week of May 4th. Students may opt out of attending if parents so choose (Opt out deadline: May 6th). As the event gets closer, we will share more details so check this section regularly for updates! Please note LCIS is doing an attendance reward at this Rockies game as well so please look for specific information from LCIS in their parent communication as the criteria is slightly different between schools. Make sure your student is present at school every day as long as they are healthy in order to earn this opportunity! We are so excited for this special event!
HOWLs Q4 Challenge: We are excited to announce our quarter 4 HOWLs challenge! Your student will try to earn as many HOWL Dollars as they can for the chance to earn cotton candy and extra recess with the principals at the end of the quarter! The top six HOWL dollar earners in each class will win. If your student wins, we will send home a paper parent communication in their backpack. You will also receive a text message from the front office. Students can earn HOWL Dollars by showing any of our HOWLs to any staff member in the school.

The Center Specifics
Dear Center Families,
We have seen a high volume of absences over the last couple of weeks. Many of these absences are connected to illnesses. We hope families are recovering well and look forward to seeing your child back in school soon!
When your child is going to be absent, please take a moment to call the front office and let us know. This helps us track attendance reasons and allows us to understand what is occurring with children and families. The front office number is 719-486-6890.
We know the front office phones are sometimes unavailable. You can also always call or text Marissa at 719-427-7075 . She will update your child’s attendance records as needed.
We have only received a few applications for the 26-27 school year. If your child is not moving onto kindergarten, they are eligible to return to The Center next year.
