Academic Dean Math K-6
This role is responsible for supporting teachers with instruction across math at Lake County Intermediate School and West Park Elementary School including implementing the duties and responsibilities listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate vertical work and lead school-wide and/or K-6 mapping of curriculum and skills
- Work horizontally and vertically to support common instructional practices and alignment
- Utilize an “I do, we do, you do” model of working with teachers that includes working directly with students on a regular basis
- Coach instruction including real time coaching, side-by-side coaching, modeling and observation feedback cycles using the Relay model
- Model a culture of planning, practice and high expectations
- Assist with planning, collaborating, and organizing instruction
- Disaggregate and analyze data and assist in its interpretation and action planning
- Work with district partners including, but not limited to, ANet, Expeditionary Learning and the Colorado Department of Education’s Turnaround Network to implement supports for teachers and ensure instruction is meeting expectations
- Engage in observations, feedback meetings, planning sessions, work sorts and data meetings on a regular basis with teachers
- Evaluate teachers
- Run weekly or bi-weekly data meetings and facilitate data driven instruction meetings
- Assist in, model, facilitate and expect the use of research-based teaching strategies and best practices including those from Relay, the Uncommon Schools Network, Teach Like A Champion in addition to other sources
- Establish, maintain and enhance effective communication with administrators, staff members and parents
- Plan and deliver professional development on instruction and culture including preservice professional development in August
- Incorporate sheltered English strategies throughout professional development and coaching
- Assist with student discipline as requested
- Is a member and active participant the Building Instructional Leadership Team (BILT)
- Ensure READ Act requirements are met and support teachers with assessment and READ Plans
- Respond with a sense of flexibility and willingness to meet the demands of the job as they come up
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of standards based education
- Knowledge of content standards
- Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom experience
- Skills collaborating with teachers and administrators
- Track record of positively impacting student performance
- Knowledge of literacy strategies across all subjects
- Experience with research based instructional practices
- Skill in using data to make instructional decisions
- Ability to understand and lead adult learners
- Instructional coaching or administrative experience
- Experience working with English language learners
Certified teaching license required
Annual Days:184-210 / negotiable
