CDE Rates Our Schools and District “Green” for Academic Performance ~ Congratulations!
Dear LCSD Families & Community Members:
I hope this finds you well and enjoying a great start to the school year! I am writing to share some exciting news about our school performance.
Late last week the Lake County School District received the final results of our 2017 state assessments from the Colorado Department of Education. Lake County Intermediate School and Lake County High School both received ratings of Performance, also known as green, the highest academic rating a school can receive. The district as a whole also received a green rating, known as Accredited. West Park Elementary does not receive a state rating because it does not serve students in the tested grades, 3rd-12th.
To have both schools and the district achieve a green rating is a huge achievement by our students and our teachers. In particular, our students showed very strong academic growth from 2016 to 2017. While our work to ensure that all Lake County students are performing on grade level continues, we are taking a moment to celebrate our progress and to thank all of the students, teachers, staff members, parents and community members who made it possible.
We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with your children every day. Most of all, this celebration of our academic improvement belongs to them. We could not be more proud of them.
Thank you for everything you do to contribute to our students’ success!
Wendy Wyman, Superintendent
