Schools on Modified Secure ~June 16th
Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
We are reaching out today to let our families know of a safety concern at the high school and the response we have put in place for all our school buildings today.
School personnel were notified of an allegation that a student made a threat through social media to the safety of students at the high school. The person alleged of making a threat has not and is not present at any of our school buildings today.. In collaboration with law enforcement the District has placed all buildings on a modified “Secure”. All students in our district will remain indoors and our buildings will be locked without allowing people to come or go. A modified secure will allow for our main entrances of buildings to be used to vet people who need to come or go through a secured point of entry and exit.
Today we will be allowing for entry and exit through the main offices only for the specific celebration events: Preschool celebration and the LCIS end of year celebration/promotion. You may be asked to wait outside until a designated and limited time of entry.
If you are coming to pick up your child today you will be asked to wait outside of the building and your child will be checked out of school and meet you outside. Students at the high school will not be allowed to leave for lunch today. High school students returning from an off-site class will be vetted by front office staff before being allowed entry into the school.
Continuous law enforcement presence will be maintained today at Lake County High School and intermittent presence will be maintained at other buildings.
All end of day bus routes will run as regularly scheduled. We appreciate your understanding as we respond to a potential threat of safety on our last day of school.
