High School Students (Grades 7-12) to continue in “Red” status for Thursday, Sept. 24th
Dear LCHS families and students,
At this time we do not have additional information regarding the suspected case of COVID at Lake County High School. As we continue to assess next steps we believe that it is in the best interest of students and staff to remain in our online “Red” status on Thursday, September 24 (just as we did today) while we continue to work with local public health on the test result and contact tracing.
If the suspected case is confirmed, we will notify students and staff that come to school on B days and have close contact with the student. Those individuals would need to quarantine.
We are asking that all students stay in “Red” status for Thursday, Sept. 24th. At this time, all students will operate as they do on their “at home” days. Students should report to their crew Google meeting at 8:00 am and then work asynchronously the rest of the day. Students will NOT have real time classes tomorrow. If a need to remain in online “Red” status continues into next week, we will transition to the fully online class schedule that occurs in real time.
Students should look for an email from Ms. Dillon with further instructions.
We realize that the high school cohorts impact a significantly larger group of people and these individuals are encouraged to be extra vigilant in their interactions over the next few days.
If your child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19:
- Follow these isolation instructions.
- Have your child tested.
- Continue to keep your child home from school and avoid other activities around other people.
- Notify the school.
- Seek medical care and testing for COVID-19, calling your doctor before you show up.
For students needing meals tomorrow, please reach out to Julie Mehle jmehle@lakecountyschools.net or 719-293-1040 (cell). If leaving a message, please include your child’s name, address and phone number.
For clarification, Cloud City High school students are not currently identified as having possible exposure, therefore Cloud City High School will operate as scheduled. CCHS students can always check the CCHS website for any change in school operating procedures. Link: bit.ly/CCHSleadville
We will be communicating more information as we receive updates.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make the difficult decision to continue in “Red” status for school at LCHS tomorrow and consider next steps.
